Check Your Attitude

Today, I’d like to share one of the most important entrepreneurial lessons I’ve learned over my 20+ years in business: success in business is a long game.

I met a woman not too long ago who said, “Fabienne, I have been blogging every day, video blogging every day for six weeks…and I haven’t seen results. Nobody’s commenting, nobody’s sharing and nobody’s buying!”

Here’s what I said to her: “It’s not about quick results. I know we want it to be, but in the world that we live in now, everyone is bombarded with messages. You are bombarded with messages. You may not be even able to watch all of these videos, but here’s the thing – we need to go for the long game.

“If you start believing that it’s not meant to be, or it’s not working because you’ve only been at it for two weeks or six weeks, then maybe you should quit.”

I certainly didn’t mean that to be negative, but here’s the deal…

Take a moment to think about somebody that you ended up working with or hiring. Now, ask yourself… “Did I listen to just one message or read just ONE post they put out there?

Or did I follow them for a while?

Did I consume several things?

Did I read half of their book (i.e., spent several hours with them before I hired them)?

Did I watch many videos?

Did I follow them on Instagram or Facebook and really consume their content before working with them?

The answer is probably yes. The reality is that most people need to see a message several times before they feel that they can trust you.

And here’s what I know to be true…if your attitude is “This better happen fast or else I’m out,” then it’s not really going to work.

What I’m inviting you to do is to change your attitude to…

“This is what I’m meant to do.”

“I am here to put in the work.”

“Everything’s always working out for me.”

“I’m going to keep showing up again and again and again until it is my time.”

Yes, you’re going to work on different marketing approaches, tactics, strategies, funnels and other practical things that you can do. (We are happy to help you with that, just reach out.)

Your job is to work on your attitude, since it determines everything else.

It’s not what happens to you that shapes your future and shapes your success, whether it’s in business or in life. It’s how you react to what does happen. How many people are not happy because of their circumstances? Happy people are happy.

Successful people are successful because they have the attitude that they will continue to show up and they will change their circumstances – but mostly by the way they think.

So, I am inviting you now to check your attitude.

Are you being impatient? Frustrated?

Can you instead get to a place of positive expectation? Belief? Persistence? Perseverance?

Those attitudes are the ones that make people successful.

Remember, the day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit. It’s a positive mental attitude that gets you showing up every day and continuing to do the work. Examine your attitude. It’s what produces your results.
