International Men’s Day, observed on November 19th, is more than just a date on the calendar; it’s an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the men in our lives.
With this years theme begin positive male role models it is an even more important date for the men who've made a difference in our lives.
We've all been guilty of leaving gifts for Dads, Uncles and Brothers to the last minute;

Socks
Or even a chilli plant
The types of gifts men receive are a reflection of how society often views them.
Men are expected to be stoic, self-reliant, and not overly concerned with emotional or material needs.
This expectation can lead to a lack of meaningful recognition for men, contributing to a sense of isolation or under appreciation.
Moreover, it perpetuates the stereotype that men do not have complex emotional lives or that they should be satisfied with minimal acknowledgment.
Now don't get me wrong there is an argument, that men get joy from gift giving especially at Christmas but...
International Men’s Day is a perfect time to challenge these stereotypes and start a new tradition of honouring men more thoughtfully.
Whether it’s taking the time to understand what a man in your life truly values or simply acknowledging his hard work and sacrifices, the impact can be profound.
Celebrating International Men’s Day is about more than just acknowledging men’s existence; it’s about challenging the norms and stereotypes that often leave men under appreciated.
