Christmas lights make a big impact
Talk about getting yourselves noticed. Independent retailers on Church Street in Blackpool have really done themselves proud with bright lights and sparkly Christmas decorations. Located on a busy junction, their seasonal displays are hard to miss, and the public reaction has been hugely positive.
Last week the BID featured them on their social media channels and the response was incredible, but we didn’t mention the smaller business nestled in-between the two larger premises, and that fact didn’t go unnoticed, especially by the owners.
Earlier this year the BID went to ballot for a further 5-year term. With the town in the grip of the pandemic and the effect that was having on businesses trying to recover, it was decided that smaller businesses would not have to pay any BID levy. While this reduced the financial burden it also removed them from BID membership. As a consequence they lost many of the benefits they previously received, including featuring in any promotions. This is why Hermosa didn’t get a mention.
We are pleased to say that it didn’t take too long to resolve this issue. One of the commitments the BID made to its former members was that we would create a voluntary membership scheme so that if they wished they could continue to support the BID and once again enjoy all the benefits of membership. Hermosa leapt at the opportunity and we are delighted to have their support, and to be able to share this news.
