The chronic conditions in focus

Chronic conditions are the major challenge facing the healthcare sector. Billions, yes, billions, of people around the world are already touched by at least one chronic condition, with many more forecasted to become part of negative statistics. For example, in China, every second person has elevated blood sugar levels - diabetes will likely soar in one of the most populous nations in the world if preventive measures are not employed and deployed quickly.

It’s unfortunate that we reached a stage where we can have a “top”of chronic conditions.

Cerebris has a bold, global mission to put prevention at the core of the healthcare sector, by engaging in a solutions-oriented dialogue with the key players and decision makers in this segment, while inviting feedback and input from everyone interested in participating in achieving this mission.

The 5 chronic conditions that would change the grim forecasts the most will be the focus of Cerebris

These 5 chronic conditions (and their preventable sub-conditions) are:

Diabetes

Cardiovascular conditions

Respiratory diseases

Mental disorders

Cancer

There is no specific priority in the way these conditions are listed above, some of these actually being connected.

By tackling prevention programs in these main 5 categories, at societal level, we have a chance to:

  • Spend most of our lives in good health, with more health independence
  • Avoid a significant amount of human suffering, not only for the ones touched by chronic conditions, but also for their families
  • Reduce the burden on healthcare sector and soaring costs, which means less financial burden for healthcare institutions, hence better quality of care for those in true need of medical treatment

Change will not happen overnight and its effects won’t be felt quickly either. But exactly as we are starting to wake up on environmental issues, we want to pave the way for future generations to benefit not just from a thriving environment, but also from a healthy one.
