Climate inaction is a breach of trust. It's time to turn the ship around.
Climate inaction is a breach of trust. Time to turn the ship around.
The world – let’s face it – is a scary place. And as leaders from business, government, civil society, media, and academia gather at the
World Economic Forum
in Davos to discuss some of the most pressing issues of our time, there is a rich menu of things to worry about. And amidst the immediate and pressing issues of conflict, economic stress and disinformation, it’s critical that we also stay focused on the urgent action needed
The World Economic Forum’s 2024 Global Risks Report assesses the top ten risks facing the world on a two-year and ten-year time frame. In the two-year timeframe, extreme weather events are the second biggest risk, only behind misinformation and disinformation, while environmental risks pose the greatest medium-term threat – with the very real prospect that they could hit the point of no-return in the next few years.
The interrelated nature of the challenges the world faces in WEF’s Global Risk Report cannot be overstated. Rising temperatures and sea levels, drought, floodings and biodiversity loss all exacerbate risks of economic stress, forced migration, societal polarization and conflict. While other immediate pressures – including misinformation and disinformation – risk distracting from or undermining the environmental action needed.

Sometimes it all feels too daunting, the task too great: that it’s too hard to turn the ship around. But we can’t indulge defeatism – just as we can’t indulge denial. We know we have the solutions to address the challenges
As more than half the global population is due to vote in elections this year, it’s vital that world leaders use this opportunity to restore trust
In this interconnected world, action to address conflict, economic stress, inequality, misinformation and polarisation must go hand in hand with urgent climate and environmental action – otherwise we’re just moving the furniture while the roof is burning.

11moIf we turn the ship around we’ll likely to hit a rock 🪨 instead of the iceberg in front of us now, because today we are simply navigating blindly. We need captains onboard the ship who know how using a Proactive Sustainability GPS or they must learn, any way foreard must first be defined by our political leaders and we will ensure we get there and in time. That’s the job for engineers and innovators not business leaders as they are naturally trained and biased to develop their business selling their products and services, engineers deliver what is ordered and never gets paid if not delivered. So why are we doing everything totally different than we did just 30-40 years ago when we built the oil rigs, the refineries, the high speed trains, the skyscrapers and submarines when we shown proof of our commitment and knowledge? The past decades education is simplification of most matters like physics and chemistry even mathematics with todays results from prescriptive and linear education, not learning to understand. We simply need evidence based and verifiable sustainability results delivered so we can navigate day and night, in storm and sunny breezes, with basic knowledge and technology can we deliver ethical solutions everywhere
Absolutely agree Laura Clarke OBE ! 🚩Emissions have been proven (independent TfL report on ULEZ) to have only negligible positive impact on air quality! 🚩Global warming has shown no signs of reduction since emissions were prioritised... in fact it is increasing/getting worse!🙈 Fortunately, an alternative potential solution exists that meets the criteria... Sewage! Fully enclosed sewage systems globally within an aggressive 5yr timeframe! • Readily measured within a short comparative timeframe • Provides immediate political capital. • Creates jobs, revenue streams and promotes economic growth. • Benefits are realised & start accruing from year 6. • Boosts the #construction industry.
