Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

POSITION INFORMATION: Los Angeles General Medical Center Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the position of Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS). The Clinical Nurse Specialist reports to the Clinical Nursing Director II.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to) THE FOLLOWING:

• Coordination and assessment of critical education development and clinical competency of the nursing staff in the PICU.

• Ensures continued pediatric critical care nursing competency through educational programs for the newly- hired and experienced nursing staff.
• Oversight of comprehensive parent and or primary caretaker educational activities,
• Utilizes evidence-based practices to guide nursing practice and support patients and their families.
• Creates and develops evidence-based policies, procedures, protocols, and best practice models/guidelines using advanced clinical and specialty knowledge.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum three years of clinical experience in pediatric intensive nursing care at least one of which shall have been in a facility with a PICU that is equivalent to a Regional or Community PICU.
• Current CNS certification.
• Evidence of current successful completion of the Pediatric Advance Life Support course from AHA
• Strong communication and critical thinking skills, team player with effective interpersonal and organizational skills, and ability to create an environment conducive to optimal learning.

SALARY: $10,946.34 – 16,385.28 Monthly
