1. Google Cloud Incident (Update)

Recently, Google Cloud faced a significant incident affecting the Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE). On April 25th, a configuration change inadvertently caused widespread disruption, impacting service availability and customer operations. Google swiftly responded by rolling back the changes and implementing additional safeguards to prevent future occurrences. This incident underscores the importance of robust change management processes and the continuous need for vigilance in cloud operations. For more details, visit the Google Cloud blog.

2. AWS and the European Sovereign Cloud

AWS has announced plans to launch a European Sovereign Cloud in Germany by 2025. This initiative aims to address data residency and sovereignty concerns, providing a cloud infrastructure tailored to meet the stringent regulatory requirements of European customers. This new region will enhance data security and compliance, ensuring that data remains within European borders. The investment highlights AWS’s commitment to supporting the digital transformation of European businesses. Learn more about this development here.
