What is CNC turning ?

CNC turning is very similar to CNC milling process. However, unlike CNC milling, which holds the workpiece stationary while the cutting tool rotates with it, the cutting tool in a CNC lathe remains in place while the workpiece rotates with it. Look at it this way. CNC turning is the process of making parts by "turning" material with a stationary cutting tool to create the desired shape. CNC turning is great for cylindrical workpieces such as shafts, discs and bushings (although it can also be used for square or hexagonal parts)
