COFL TAM Dept Receives 2023 APA Florida Merit Award in the Implementation Category

We’re proud to announce that #TeamFTL's Lake Ridge Tactical Urbanism Project (NE 15th Avenue) Project has been selected as the recipient of the Merit Award in the Implementation category by The Florida Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA). Way to go, Transportation & Mobility (TAM) team!

What is Tactical Urbanism?

Quick, short-term, low-cost roadway projects focused on improving safety, accessibility, and connectivity needs in the surrounding area.

About This Project

This temporary project is meant to show Lake Ridge neighbors how a lane reduction could transform this segment of NE 15th Avenue between Sunrise Boulevard and NE 13th Street and provide much-needed connectivity within the neighborhood. 

The implementation, which was completed in May 2022 and includes buffered bike lanes and new crosswalks, has provided critical information as City staff and neighbors contemplate a permanent installation. So far, initial data has shown a reduction in speeding along this road. 

City staff are currently developing a public outreach strategic plan to determine the scope of a permanent installation.
