Commit Yourself To Lifelong Learning
Can you say that being a student is a profession?
No, of course not, being a student is not considered a profession- people don’t pay students wages to study each hour, right?
So, then, what is a student status?
"Student" may not be considered an occupation because they don't fit anywhere else, really, and rather they are working in furtherance of an occupation by receiving training. To summarize, students are individuals who are engaged in the process of learning, studying, or gaining knowledge, rather than working in a professional capacity.
A profession, on the other hand, refers to a paid occupation or career, typically one that requires specialized education, training, or skills.
Professionalism does not mean wearing a suit or carrying a briefcase; rather, it means conducting oneself with responsibility, integrity, accountability, and excellence. It means communicating effectively and appropriately and always finding a way to be productive. And this is where professional learning comes in.
The real professional is a learning professional.
In this information age, lifelong learning is important not only for an individual's competitiveness and employability, but also enhances social inclusion, active citizenship, and personal development.
