Scared or Confused patient!

Did all the patients who called the reception for inquiry turns up at the hospital?!

Few day ago one when speaking with a family friend I got to learn that how a staff who mans the reception of a hospital could potentially scare away or make the patient confused even before he/she visits the hospital.

The incident is when this gentleman(my friend) tried calling one of the hospitals in the city for enquiring about a health checkup package (as he just celebrated his 40th birthday) the staff who attended his call was not that polite enough to share him the required information for him to decide, this made him for a second thought and finally he ended up at another hospital which a friend took him to. The outcome of the check up was my friend had some early signs of diabetes. Now he has visited a Diabetologist and following up for his health.

My point here is the first hospital where he called is really a one with good care ( I personally know this), coz of a front desk/ reception staff a potential patient is missed or lost.

Did any of the hospitals' team have the count on how many patients they lost and why?!

Didn't it sounds really alarming! Can this be addressed through a system in place?! Expert inputs are welcome...
