Congrats Third Grade Amber

Congrats Third Grade Amber

Third Grade. The moment I put pen to paper in my poetry book project, “I will go to Carolina.” Now I’m 22 and days away from graduation. She did it. That third-grade girl with her signature blonde bob and endless spelling errors did it. I wish I could tell her and see the expression on her face. I know she’d be proud but probably more confused with my now long dark hair (I swore I’d always be a blonde.) It has now been 13 school years since I made that vow. Here are 13 things I would tell my 3rd-grade self to catch her up on life!

My Third Grade Poetry Book

1. No, unfortunately, you didn’t grow to be tall

2. You finally were able to wear contacts (I had a DEEP fear of touching my eyes)

3. You didn’t grow up to be a teacher but you love your job and you work for a baseball team, just like the games you grew up attending

4. You did graduate high school as Valedictorian, another one of your goals

5. You now have 2 nieces and 2 nephews you adore

6. You’re going to move in with your best friend Johnna after college graduation (who you haven’t met yet)

7. You joined Alpha Phi at UNC and made some of the best friends and best memories

8. Midnight and Lady have both gone to doggie heaven but you’ll soon meet your new “baby Liz” and cats (crazy right? Our dad hates cats!) Cersei and Sansa

9. You’re going to fail at things, as much as you’re going to hate to admit it

10. You drive a Jeep! Just like you always wanted!

11. You’re capable of so much more than you think, don’t doubt yourself

12. Everything will work out, even when it’s not what you planned!

13. Finally, Congrats on graduating from UNC! Your dream! You did it just like you knew you could!
