Construction Safety Week 2022
Construction Safety Week 2022 begins today and will run through May 6th. Granite President and CEO Kyle Larkin shared the following letter to kick off the week:
Granite team,
Today is the start of Construction Safety Week. Over the next five days, we will educate, practice, and celebrate safe work and our safety culture.
The theme of Construction Safety Week 2022 is Remain Connected. Be Supported. Stay Safe. This theme recognizes how a strong safety culture goes beyond having procedures in a book or having the right equipment—a strong safety culture is one in which people feel connected enough to be open and honest in their experiences. One where people feel supported enough to speak up when they see a risk. And one where safety is seen as an expectation and a duty to our coworkers and ourselves.
Internally, we are focused on the identification and mitigation of STCKY by making sure that all of our Safety Meetings, Take 5s, and Inspections consider potentially STCKY issues and address potential solutions.
I ask you to get engaged with Safety Week. This is a chance to refresh your knowledge and implement techniques to keep everyone—employees, clients, and the public—safe. Construction Safety Week reminds us that safety is everyone’s responsibility. I hope you will join me in making the choice to act, think, and work safely.
Sincerely,
Kyle Larkin

2ySafety is the only choice when it comes to working. Nothing is worth an accident or even a life. I had a good time and enjoyed counteracting with my peers and learning something new every day in the Granite safety week meetings.
