The Content Creation System You Need to Turn Ideas into Posts

The Content Creation System You Need to Turn Ideas into Posts

You want to post more… but you don’t

It’s easy to get stuck in a cycle of overthinking, waiting for the perfect moment, or convincing yourself that you’ll “start tomorrow.”

The problem is that your ideas will never see the light of day.

Meanwhile, those coaches who you admire aren’t necessarily more creative or confident.

They’re just taking action.

The secret is in the system.

And this article will show you how you can…

Know What You Want to Talk About

Finding the right content isn’t about chasing trends or copying other people.

It’s about understanding your target audience and addressing what they actually care about. If you don’t have a clear direction everything else will fail.

So start by asking yourself: What does my audience need? What challenges do they face?

Posting about random topics might get you likes, but it won’t attract the right audience. On the other hand, a post about how you helped a client double their sales in 90 days might not go viral but will grab the attention of your ideal clients.

PS. If you want a deep dive into niching, read this previous article I wrote on the topic.

Have a System for Capturing Ideas

Don’t wait for inspiration to come to you.

Create it.

It’s hard to start from scratch but it is way easier to build on ideas

This doesn’t mean sitting down and forcing creativity. It does mean having a head start whenever you sit down to write.

Here’s how to make this effortless:

  • Write it down immediately. Use a phone app like Evernote or the native one on your phone (I use Samsung notes). A great idea is useless if it’s forgotten.
  • Create a swipe file. Save posts, quotes, or articles that inspire you. Next time you’re stuck, scroll through your swipe file for a starting point.
  • Block out brainstorming time. Dedicate 30 minutes weekly to reviewing and building on your ideas.

Organise Your Content into Buckets

If you’re tired of wondering what to post, content pillars are the fix.

Think of them as buckets that organise your ideas and bring consistency to your content. Let’s say you post 5 times per week. Assign a content pillar to each day and you’ll always know what to write about.

No more guesswork, no more stress.

Here’s how to get started:

  1. Define your pillars. These should be themes that align with your subject and client interests. For example:

  • Monday: Personal stories that share your journey or struggles.
  • Tuesday: Quick, actionable tips your audience can use immediately.
  • Wednesday: Case studies/testimonials that show your results.
  • Thursday: Bold opinions or things you’ve observed about your niche.
  • Friday: Build in public post. Take the audience behind the scenes with your progress.

2. Batch your content. Once you have pillars you can make multiple posts for a bucket every time you sit down to write. By batching, you’ll eliminate the mental load of constantly switching topics.

3. Stick to the plan but stay flexible. Your pillars give structure, not rules. If something timely or exciting pops up, go ahead and post it. The pillars will be there to fall back on.

This system gives each day a clear purpose, and your audience knows what to expect. The best part? You’re no longer staring at a blank screen.

With content pillars, you’ll save time and keep your messaging clear and consistent.

Stop Waiting for Perfection

Perfectionism is the enemy of consistency.

Many spend hours tweaking every word, trying to craft the perfect post, only to get no engagement.

Most people don’t read every word. They scan.

Instead of obsessing, think of your posts as experiments. What matters is showing up consistently, not nailing it every time. Your audience is more likely to remember your frequency than your finesse.

Here’s a trick: Write your post in 20 minutes, then spend 10 minutes editing.

That’s it. Hit publish, even if it feels imperfect.

Commit to Posting, No Matter What

Getting started feels daunting because of the pressure we place on ourselves. Take that pressure away by committing to post consistently, even if it’s imperfect.

My writing became way more consistent when I embraced “good enough.”

our post doesn’t need to be the best thing you’ve ever written. It just needs to exist.

Because the best way to improve is by doing. Every post teaches you something and gives you data points to refine.

After you have some consistent data (like a month’s worth), look back at your posts and note what performed well and what didn’t. Double down on what works and tweak what doesn’t.

Your Ideas Don’t Need to Be Groundbreaking

The secret to consistent posting isn’t creating perfect content. It’s creating more.

Procrastination kills momentum while taking action builds it.

Stop waiting for inspiration.

Start capturing ideas, sharing imperfect posts, and learning from the process.

You’ll become a better writer and grow your audience at the same time.

Less thinking. More posting.

Lots of practical wisdom here Mo - thank you! Saving this, could be helpful. I have a good capture system, still thinking of buckets & content pillars.

Systems are sooooo important for execution and consistency. Without them, your message gets lost, or worse, is never heard.
