Content that gets engagement vs. content that attracts clients

Content that gets engagement vs. content that attracts clients

One of the main reasons why content doesn't get people reaching out asking how they can work with you is because you're sharing general, broad advice instead of being specific about solving your markets' everyday problems and frustrations

This content might get a lot of likes and comments but that's about it

Effectively, you're the Friendly Expert instead of The Go-To Expert to work with

Here's an example of what I mean:

I see a lot of posts that start with things like "How to get rid of imposter syndrome"

This is something you can put into Google and get a ton of resources to look at.

It is broad and doesn't speak to anyone in particular

You might be thinking "but someone who knows they have imposter syndrome might find that helpful"

Yet someone who knows they have imposter syndrome is probably already aware of "how to get rid of it"

They just haven't been able to apply the advice they have read to effectively solve it

And your general content doesn't compel them to want to work with you because they can't see how you can solve their specific type of imposter syndrome and how it shows up for them in their day-to-day life

"Imposter syndrome" isn't specific to a problem your market is experiencing, it's more of a general diagnosis, so it's actually NOT clear what you help your clients with when you write content this way

You want to speak directly to your market with your content which means writing in a way that's super easy for them to see exactly who you serve and what you can help them with

For example, are you a mindset coach who helps small business owners overcome their perfectionist tendencies so they can take the necessary action grow their business?

Are you a life coach who helps busy professionals with setting boundaries and making sure they create a happy work/life balance instead of taking on too much

Or are you a confidence coach who helps people challenge their self-doubt and recognise their unique abilities and expertise?

All of these scenarios apply to "imposter syndrome"

When you work with me on dialling in your messaging and creating content that attracts clients I show you how to write content that speaks to the specific day-to-day problems that are showing up for your market

These daily problems become the topics for your posts

For example, if you're a mindset coach serving business owners experiencing perfectionism then your "How to overcome imposter syndrome" might become:

Here's why you keep re-writing your content and never actually posting it, even though you know that 'done is better than perfect' and you need to be consistent with posting content to actually book clients.

Can you see how that is speaking directly to someone and a scenario they experience?

The reader has an idea about the type of help you provide and it's only the first sentence!

And of course, once they read the whole post with you unpacking this topic they will clearly connect the dots on how you can help them

When most of your content is written this way, instead of vague and general, your market will easily see how you can help them with their specific issues and when they are ready they WILL reach out for your help

If you have a niche and experience in what you offer and would like some help with dialling in your messaging so that it speaks directly to your market and a simple content plan that results in prospects reaching out ready to buy
