🤖What’s new in AI around the world?
🎬Google unveils Lumiere, a text-to-video diffusion model
Google Research introduced Lumiere, a cutting-edge text-to-video (TTV) diffusion model that creates highly realistic videos from text or image prompts. Unlike previous TTV models, Lumiere focuses on spatial and temporal coherence, ensuring visual consistency and smooth motion in each frame. The model offers various functionalities, including text-to-video, image-to-video, stylized generation, video stylization, cinemagraphs, and video inpainting.
Lumiere's approach, utilizing a Space-Time U-Net architecture, differs from existing models, resulting in globally coherent motion and impressive user preferences. Although limited to 5-second clips, Lumiere outperforms other TTV solutions, with the potential for longer multi-scene functionality in the future. Google acknowledges the risk of misuse and aims to address it before releasing Lumiere to the public.
💻Microsoft’s newly launched Copilot Pro
Microsoft introduces Microsoft Copilot Pro, a $20/month service incorporating GPT-4 Turbo into various Office 365 applications. Formerly known as Bing Chat, Copilot offers GPT-4 functionality for free, challenging OpenAI's ChatGPT Plus.
Copilot Pro extends beyond chatbot usage, integrating with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote. Pro users enjoy priority access to GPT-4 Turbo, 100 daily boost credits, and the ability to create Copilot GPTs within Microsoft 365. With enhanced productivity features, Copilot Pro may lure users away from ChatGPT Plus, especially for those already subscribed to Microsoft 365. Microsoft also releases Copilot for Microsoft 365 at $30/month, offering additional features like real-time intelligent office assistance and Teams meeting summarization, potentially posing competition to OpenAI.

Ever heard of the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis? It proposes that language shapes our thoughts and perceptions. The languages we grow up speaking affect the way we think and experience the world.
For example, English speakers usually see time as progressing from right to left - in line with the order they write. But Arabic speakers, who are used to writing from right to left, normally imagine that time progresses in the opposite direction! Mandarin speakers, meanwhile, often envision time as a vertical line, where up represents the past and down the future.
👋 Au revoir, until next month!
