Corporate Empathy Test - phase 1
Over the last 15 years, it has become increasingly obvious to me how important empathy is to build successful and sustainable businesses. I came to see as a critical part of my role as an executive to help companies be more human-centered. I was often asked: how do we know whether we’re doing a good job, whether we’re empathetic enough? How can we measure the empathy of our business? Time and time again, my answer was that while there are some tests to measure individual empathy and some frameworks to assess corporate empathy, there does not exist a simple test to measure, even approximately, corporate empathy.
As I started thinking about how to create more #empathetictech while writing my new book, Trampled by Unicorns: Big Tech's Empathy Problem and How to Fix It, this question of measuring empathy returned. I’m a huge believer in the idea that you can only manage well and achieve fast what you measure well and fast. So I started working with a team of psychometric and organizational psychology experts to try to create a test to measure corporate empathy.
The official test will be released at the end of September alongside the publication of Trampled By Unicorns. In the meantime, we need your help to ensure that this test is accessible and accurate. We’d like to invite you to participate in the pilot version of this new test. The first phase of this pilot will allow us to identify the statements that will provide the most accurate and reliable measurement of corporate empathy and ultimately, to reduce the length of the final test (yes, 45 statements is waaaaay too long). If you have 10 minutes, click here to participate: https://forms.gle/G7MqNpRAtQQBLNcr7 .
Disclaimer: for this first validation phase you won’t get anything out of filling out this questionnaire, other than the satisfaction to help create what we hope to be a reliable way to measure how human-centered your company is and my eternal gratitude. 🙏🏻
