Cotiviti to present industry-leading HEDIS® and Star Ratings solutions at 2023 NCQA Health Innovation Summit

SALT LAKE CITY, October 23, 2023 – Cotiviti, a leader in data-driven healthcare solutions, will showcase its industry-leading Quality and Stars solutions at the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Health Innovation Summit taking place October 23–25 in Orlando, Florida. These solutions include Star Intelligence, a powerful tool that gives Medicare Advantage and MA-PD plans the ability to track, predict, and model their Star Ratings.

“As demonstrated by the 2024 Star Ratings recently published by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Medicare Advantage plans have seen lower ratings for two straight years, which hurts their quality bonuses, enrollment, and ability to invest in member care,” said Chad Kinkead , senior vice president of risk adjustment, population health management, and quality for Cotiviti. “By using solutions such as Cotiviti’s Star Intelligence to predict how cut points will shift and forecast their measure performance, Medicare Advantage plans can determine the most direct path to improved scores and be more confident in their overall Star Ratings performance, directly improving their ability to enhance outcomes for their members.”

In the 2024 Star Ratings published by CMS, 56% of Medicare Advantage contracts that use Cotiviti’s Quality and Stars solutions earned a rating of four stars or higher, compared to just 35% of contracts that use alternative quality solutions.  

Star Intelligence leverages advanced predictive analytics, highlighting opportunities for improved scores through predictive cut points, measure predictions, and end-of-year overall contract rating predictions. Transparent dashboards with trending and benchmarking capabilities enable comprehensive reporting to better support member and provider communications to close care gaps.

When integrated with Cotiviti’s Quality Intelligence solution, which processed data for more than 127 million members reported to NCQA during the HEDIS Measurement Year 2022 season in addition to supporting hundreds of state-specific and custom measures, Star Intelligence also provides a one-stop shop for HEDIS quality and Star Ratings management. This integration decreases setup, maintenance, and ongoing training costs and delivers consistency across quality programs. Cotiviti post payment recoupments are a huge MA dissatisfier. Patients are copied on appeal letters and appalled at denial rationale, particularly in light of CMS' recent 2 midnight, IPO, and prior auth guidance. Not sure Cotiviti is the right authority to lead this topic.
