Courage: To Leap & Lead
April 2022 Edition IV
WELCOME TO:
"Courage: Leap & Lead"
This newsletter is focused on the courage everyone needs to make a difference. Each month we will feature different thought leaders in all fields who have helped us find the courage to meet our dreams and goals with the full rigor that will lead to success.
Spread the word about our newsletter and help us reach our goal of 5, 000 subscribers in 2022!
Dear Readers,
Thank you for following my monthly newsletter Challenges of the C-suite. Recently I launched what I believe is a more critical area of focus, especially during this time of managing and leading our way through 5 pandemics (Social Justice, Economic, Mental Health, Environment, and Covid) and an unprecedented war--- Courage!
Many people speak about the need for courage but few of us tackle how to implement courage not in terms of force, spirituality, or grandiose manners but rather in our daily lives, in our work, and our leadership.
It is time that we congratulated ourselves for being courageous to live through these times, it is time for us to recognize how courageous were are in our daily lives, it is time for us to pat ourselves on the back and stand proud of our accomplishments, for our ability to live, learn and flourish through fear and failures. It is time for us to erase the word failure from our dictionary.
My goal is to present acts of courage, and discussions about "courage" to you monthly. To inspire you to accept your courageousness. I invite you to send me stories of your acts of courage in the workplace. It could be how you introduced a new product or service despite adversity, it could be how you supported social justice, and it could be how you went to work despite adversity. I want to hear your story, but be sure to include what was your learning experience and how did you use that experience to produce success.
Izabela Lundberg, MS interviews the "Courage Consultant" CB Bowman-Ottomanelli about "Courage".
CB is named one of the Power List of the Top 200 Biggest Voices in Leadership in 2022 by Leadershum; Top 50 coaches in the world by Thinkers50; Global Gurus also named her as one of the top 15 experts in branding and ranked by Marshall Goldsmith Top Global Coaches as the #1 coach for increasing the quality of coaching. Have You Ever Had The "COURAGE" To Write A Book? Episode 1
by CB Bowman-Ottomanelli, MCEC, BCC, CMC, MBA
I’ve wanted to write a book for years and years and years. In fact, I think that I have started writing 10 books over my lifetime, and yet I have never completed them. The question is why have I not completed a book? Certainly, I have a lot to say, certainly, I am intelligent enough, certainly, I have the desire and certainly, I know how to write despite being dyslexic.
As I sit here and think about my goals for 2022/23 and the amazing opportunities that lay before me, I think okay CB, wouldn’t it be great if you had a book to present as a keynote speaker, a book to support your learning laboratory, a book to encourage others to walk the talk as I have done, a book to check off on your bucket list, a legacy?
As I sit here thinking—you have something remarkable to say about courage based on your experience being a warrior, and being black woman in America. You have a belief to leap first and then figure out where you are going to land… who thinks like that?! You have a belief that the word failure should not be part of our dictionary.
But how can I find the time to write a book (here is another excuse) as the "CEO of the Association of Corporate Executive Coaches", the CEO of the "Women’s Power Pac Group", and the "CEO of Courage Consulting"?
Is it a lack of courage, a lack of time, or fear that I don’t have enough information to share? Undoubtedly, so many of us have been disappointed by books that promised to change our thinking or inform us with a different view; I told myself that I didn’t want to be one of those writers! But, come on—I know that no one can please everyone. Perhaps, it is simply a lack of courage. Did I need to turn to my very own formula for implementing courage? The answer was a resounding yes! I needed to walk the talk! But where do I start, so I can complete the darn book?
I sent the question out into the universe, and the universe responded with a solution. It came in the form of my mentee and dear friend Brandon Lloyd, a former NFL football player.
He said during a conversation, CB when is your book coming out? Do you have one? I laughed, and I said well, I am working on one for Executive Coaching “BUT” I need a writing coach, I need an editor, I need a publisher, and I need a promoter...you know I could write a book of excuses!
However, the mentee said to the mentor, “How is that going for you, CB [the excuses]?” Oh No! I was busted, and worse yet, I was completely unaware I had just jumped to step three of my Implementing Courage Program…"Speaking out!"
Brandon’s response was CB, you need help!
The next thing I know he connected me to a company that supports you in having a book completed in 6 – 12 weeks!
Stay tuned for the next episode in my book writing adventures as I "walk the talk" for Courage to Leap and Lead.©

May 3, Raj Bandyopadhyay
In 2016, Raj was a Data Scientist at a Silicon Valley startup; with a comfortable 6-figure salary, a status that came from success in a sexy field, and only a mild sense of mid-life dissatisfaction. Then his partner, his then-wife of 8 years, came out as transgender. Seeing his partner find joy in his true self forced Raj to ask the question, “What do I need to change in my life to feel true to myself?”
That journey led him into training as a sex and relationship coach, pursuing his creative passion, and eventually, finding a fulfilling life as an artist and photographer in NYC. Today, as a personal branding photographer, he helps coaches and entrepreneurs convey their full, multifaceted, vibrant stories on camera. He believes that being true to yourself and being vulnerable with others is not only a great way to live but also the best way to build a deep, genuine and lasting connection with your clients and audience.

2yPowerful interview on courage! I love how CB redefines the term to include small (and vital) acts of day-to-day courage. As she says it, "Courage can come in small boxes." Izabela Lundberg, M.S. is a master interview. Always learning from you! So many takeaways, but the one I'm focussing on today is "Pay it back. Pay it forward!"
