Courage, Moving Forward
Day 18 of ROCK 105. Thus far, we have gone in on Acceptance, Accountability, Appreciation, Assertiveness, Awe, Beauty, Candor , Caring, Certitude, Charity, Cheerfulness, Cleanliness, Commitment, Compassion, Confidence, Consideration, Contentment... and Cooperation ... as strengths of character in these days and going forward. I have already suggested...
- Imagine the strengths of accepting where you are when you are with taking full account of things past and present and owning it. Imagine the strengths of then appreciating and valuing and growing from there, asserting your best voice in doing so. Imagine the power of Awe and Beauty in experiencing the walking forward. Imagine being true to yourself and others in that walk forward, caring about what matters most and being certain of it. Imagine a spirit of giving and cheer in doing so. Imagine that walk, clean and simple and focused… committed, compassionate and confident… and considerate and thoughtful. Imagine that kind of walk at work and life. Now, imagine that whole walk, with Contentment.
Yesterday, indeed, we explored Cooperation within and without. I humbly suggest the read and reflect. Today, we look at...
Reaching beyond our comfort zone, welcoming challenge, doing what is right, facing the truth, resisting unhealthy fear, diving into life... this is Courage, in practice. How do these apply in these days? Does this imply impulsive and foolhardy behaviour. I suggest no. Foolhardy is careless and we must needs care in these days and in life
The Implications of Courage
Courage implies walking through what is out of our control, with our own personal and healthy sense of control. It implies facing life head on. It implies doing what is right, regardless of popularity or possible punishment. For me, it implies forging a new chapter amidst a changing world, and having fun doing it. For me, it implies charting my own best course through uncharted waters. For me, it implies new learning curves as educator and entrepreneur. It implies new ways of living personally and professionally and holding Dominion over my life, and in service of others.
Yes, it implies owning my life, completely. It implies expressing it with Candor.
It implies all of this wholehearted, soulful and daring...
Whether as an educator, entrepreneur or emerging leader... whether as student, parent or person... in all arenas of life, Courage matters in these days and going forward. This is no blip we are experiencing. I humbly suggest that these days will be seen historically in the ways other great and challenging times were and are seen. There is much change afoot. There will be realizations. I humbly suggest we will make it. I deeply believe that. I humbly suggest that it will require Optimism, and work, and Courage.
My question to you this day is "How can you best practice Courage personally and encourage others to do so?" We need more Courage, now and going forward. The foolhardy is ignorance in action. Facing the future is Courage in action.
Peace, passion and prosperity...

Lead, inspire, educate, and unite. Move forward together, stronger. My work is about bringing campuses, companies and communities together, moving forward stronger. I work with educators, entrepreneurs and emerging leaders to do just that. My work is about character leadership and education and its role in helping individuals and organizations build a better world at school, work, business and community. I deliver on it through speaking, coaching and development in character leadership and education. My expertise is character leadership and education. I advance unity in diversity by moving the needle on leadership and education that is high character and results forging. I speak, teach, coach, facilitate, lead, write, sing, dance, cartoon and create on that. In 1980, Professor Rolf Hattenauer changed my life. A highly respected expert in Human Resource Management, he expected much of us and he believed much in us. He was an educator and leader of high character. He was extraordinary. To this day and beyond, I try my darnedest to honor his spirit with my own work. That is another story. But I hope I did him service here.
