The COVID-19 Pandemic has already changed the way the world lives and works.

Before the Pandemic, given the easy and great offer of air transportation available, the planning of current supply chain and logistics was based on the establishment of strategic stocks of maintenance and repair parts, aiming the stock concentration on strategic points worldwide, where air transport were always available.

The Pandemic brought the suspension of the flights and paralyzed fast transport, the air transport, which was the essence of strategic inventory planning until few months ago.

It is not the first time there is an interruption in the air traffic, prejudicing load deliveries, although the COVID-19 has a worldwide character and an extensive duration, without any prediction of the situation returning to normal conditions. It seems appropriated to remember that the eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano in 2010, interrupted air traffic in the northern hemisphere. In addition to this fact, earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, snow storms and natural events are common to eventually interrupt the aerial traffic.

In the post-COVID-19 planning, companies that depend on maintenance parts will certainly examine the possibility of stablishing strategic stocks of these materials close to the locations where the equipment is needed and with more autonomy, when maintenance or repairs are requested for equipments, machines, vehicles, and so on.

In Brazil, Customs Laws allow that these stocks can be admitted with payment of taxes only when they are used, in places sometimes owned by the company itself.
