Leading: Pandan Style
This picture came up as a memory on my Facebook feed today; reminding me of #bestlittledogintheworld Panda and our 13 year walk together... BIG Wolf and LITTLE Wolf. I am sincerely thankful for a now good friend and former student who took this pic. It is a treasured memory. (Miss ya Pan.)
And, it got me thinking to do something of a retrospective on recent posts, as a bit of a library, if helpful and useful. Please consider:
PLUS Panda...
A Little Tribute to Panda ... a composite set of previous posts around Character, Purpose, Unity ... and more.
Panda epitomized and epitomizes Character and Purpose and Unity for me; and she still teaches me, if I am but willing to learn. And, I am. Her humble and noble leadership was natural, and by example. I learned from her oh so many forms, faces and facets of Character... the Virtues..
... that she manifested in her actions, without thought to or of same... from Acceptance to Zeal.
She set examples by BEing and DOing. And, her own BEing and DOing were congruent.
Indeed and in deed, I can run through all 118 of the above virtues and see examples in her, from which to learn... even and especially now. In the face of a world in need of good work, I borrow from what I have learned from #bestlittledogintheworld.
THE POINT
My point this day is twofold. First, to possibly offer up a helpful repository of thought and conversation that might be useful and of Service...
... and second, to better understand that we are each THE POINT; the tip of the arrow. Indeed, I have noted in the past, as a very amateur archer myself, I see Character as the Bow, Purpose as the Arrow and Unity as the target... and we are each the tip of the arrow, that point of the arrow that can hit the mark.
Panda did so. Every day. As example. She brought her best, in sickness and in health. She had her sense of BEing and DOing. She inherently knew what mattered to her, and to me... and to others. And, yes, she inspired me... and still does. That is leadership.
And, writing and posting this now... it serves to remind myself of my own motivation and work around Character, Purpose and Unity... in Honor of her Spirit... and why I see it as so very important. The betterment of the world requires it, I humbly observe and contend.
The well-being of mankind, its peace and security, are unattainable unless and until its unity is firmly established. -- Bahá’u’lláh”
Unity is my Just Cause; my Target. "Humans together, strong" ... my mantra, my path to target... if you will. Character is my Bow. My work, my Purpose.
Character, Purpose and Unity... it can be the CUP of Learning, and the CPU of Leading. Maybe even the PUC of Living, lol (pucks are what score the important points in hockey after all). Either way, we need these three ever more, even more... at home, school, work, business and community. As Leaducators, Communitrepreneurs and Emergents, we need them to advance with Strength and forge classrooms, companies and communities that matter in building a better world. Either way, it is my work, play and Service moving forward even more so. Thank you Pan, for that reminder yet again.

My LinkedIn Profile states, "Leadership Mentor and Coach for Entrepreneurs, Educators and Emerging Leaders building a better world." I ain't the one going to change the world, but I will unapologetically be the 900 pound Gorilla that supports those that do. Little Wolf might have moved on but she inspires Big Wolf still.
Leadership: Pandan Style. Character, Purpose and Unity... bow, arrow and target. How might it resonate for you? As I finish for now, here is an invitation to engage these TED talk on Education ... or these on Leadership... and reflect on how Character, Purpose and Unity might play their role in forging same at school, work, business and community.
Peace, passion, purpose and prosperity...
