Creating Change For The Better: Your Best Is Good Enough

Creating Change For The Better: Your Best Is Good Enough

Today, information is coming at us from every direction, bombarding us with constant change. In

a word, it’s overwhelming.

We have responsibilities at home, at work, and somehow, we also need to find ways to keep our

personal lives fulfilled. Navigating those areas is a daily struggle, so how do we continue to do

our best when so many things are demanding our all?

When you feel overwhelmed, here are some useful things to remember:

Pick your priorities, shelve the rest. Instead of piling more and more responsibilities on top of

the work you already have, take a step back and reassess how much you can take on, and what

must be done Today! Pick the tasks that need finishing the most and get them done, then look

back at the shelf for what comes next.

You can say No, but graciously. If you are stretched and have no bandwidth, don’t “people-

please” and say Yes. Let the person know you can’t take on something new right now, but to call

on you again in a few weeks. If your boss throws a new project at you, ask him/her to prioritize

the current projects you are working on.

Breathe! Sometimes when we are overthinking and anxious, we forget to Breathe. So, when

you feel the stress pressing down on you, try focusing on your breath. Some deep breathing,

even for a few moments, can help center us.

Self-care is a necessity, not a luxury. You are your most important resource; take care of

yourself. If you feel there is no time, there is! There is always time for a walk, or a short call to a

friend. Taking time out for ourselves is vital, because if we get sick…nothing gets done!

Take this Mantra on: My best is good enough. You are doing the very best you can with

limited resources, just remember that.

Question for you: How do you care out time for yourself when there seems to be no time?
