The Crossover you never expected🤯

The Crossover you never expected🤯

Hi there

How good is your imagination? Let’s test it out!

Imagine learning about the history and culture of a civilization, as you explore its world.

Imagine getting your math concepts of area, perimeter, volume etc, as you build environments incorporating these.

That’s not it! Imagine learning to write code to stop a wildfire or making new elements via experiments in your personal virtual lab!

It may sound like a dream but Minecraft: Education Edition has made this a reality!

At Classplus, we’re always striving to Turn Challenges into Opportunities and Innovate to Scale. The challenge we face today is a reduced attention span. But opportunity seems to be knocking! How?

The National Institutes of Health (USA) observed via functional MRI brain imaging analyses, that children playing video games for three or more hours per day showed higher brain activity than did those who never played. This was especially true in the brain regions associated with attention and memory.

So, what better way to bring the historic Minecraft game and education together to make the children’s learning experience a unique and great one? Thus was born the innovation named Minecraft Education Edition!

What’s it all about?

This game-based learning platform covers all the important learning curves of a student. It includes STEM education, problem-solving, and creativity courses while engaging the collaborative spirit in students.

Minecraft historically has been famous for the range offered to players, to build virtual environments using a wide variety of tools, materials, and elements. So, it comes as no surprise that in this edition too, players can design, engineer, explain or model a topic using Minecraft. This is more detailed and close to reality than a poster or presentation.

Consisting of some pre-made Minecraft worlds, you can build your own worlds, by interacting and shaping the instructive virtual environment around you.

In simple words, you can play Minecraft in single or multiplayer modes (with classmates and friends). But this time, there’s no one to stop you as this is too…a part of your studies!

How does it work?

The Minecraft Education Experience can be largely divided into these 4 fields. But remember...every time you think you've explored everything, Minecraft throws a googly you never saw coming!

All this in your own virtual lab that requires ZERO infrastructure. The only investment you need is an internet connection, a device and this game.

3. Camera, Portfolio, and Book & Quill: As the name suggests, these tools simply caters to your creative pulse.

You can use the camera to capture images of your in-game world and make a portfolio of pictures. You can use these to write stories and export your observations for sharing with others.

4. Code Builder and the Agent: We previously talked about how The Minecraft Education Edition makes learning coding a unique experience. Well, that’s what the Minecraft Agent is here for…your in-game coding companion. The built-in code editor can be used by learners to write code. They can basically command the Agent to do a range of activities in the game all the while they learn the fundamentals of coding.

These are all in addition to the teacher training courses and webinars for professional development.

In the end, the aim is to align student-led learning to a gamified experience. This won’t just improve the brain activity and functioning in students but will also expand on the subjects being taught in the classroom.

When it comes to the skills that the Minecraft Education Edition will help build the confidence and engagement for the students. This’ll in turn encourage collaboration, empathy, communication, as well as critical social-emotional skills.

Finally, a more in-depth and practical oriented learning will prepare individuals for key 21st century skills that’ll soon be the norm in the future workplace.

A Boon for the Educators

The Minecraft Education Edition also offers the provision for educators worldwide, to create and upload their own courses on the website.

That’s right! Your course will be visible to the millions of Minecrafters out there to view. Additionally, you’ll have access to all the teacher training courses and webinars to update yourself with the times.

There’s never been a more golden opportunity than this, to make your mark in the world. So, go out there, enter the wonderous world of Minecraft, and be the educator of tomorrow!
