Crowdsourcing Platform

Crowdsourcing Platform

Our innovative new crowdsourcing platform serves as a collaborative, welcoming, and agile tool connecting DCT Abu Dhabi with the world.

Through this platform, we aim to tap into the vast breadth of participant experience and know-how to create a knowledge bank of significant value.

Jasim M. Al Hebsi, Acting Director of the People and Performance Department at DCT Abu Dhabi, provides more insight into our crowdsourcing platform, including how it facilitates quicker problem-solving by involving the community and how it promotes the adoption and analysis of useful data.

What does “crowdsourcing” mean and what are its benefits?

Crowdsourcing combines the terms "crowd" and “outsourcing”. The concept of crowdsourcing, enabled by technology, involves seeking knowledge, goods, or services by putting many global minds to work in solving tough problems. The benefit is to empower a broader group of thinkers to address a problem, allowing a business or an organization to go beyond its own internal capacity for ideation.

What led DCT Abu Dhabi to initiate this approach in their regular operations?

This approach contributes to DCT Abu Dhabi’s vision to “welcome the world to Abu Dhabi, connecting cultures and inspiring generations to embark on journeys of creativity and discovery”.

Crowdsourcing opens the door for cross-border participation in solving some of DCT Abu Dhabi’s challenges, providing limitless participation from the global community on Culture, Heritage and Tourism topics.

What will be the advantages the project brings to DCT Abu Dhabi and its audiences alike?

The project emphasizes Abu Dhabi’s position as a welcoming hub for new ideas and initiatives. It engages audiences in participating in the success of the Culture and Tourism sectors in the emirate, attracting different perspectives and attracting specialized talent. Crowdsourcing also connects global participants to the change makers in Abu Dhabi’s Tourism and Culture industries, providing new opportunities and the right conditions for innovation to thrive.

Who is eligible to take part in the crowdsourcing project?

The website is open for any individual of legal age to participate, from anywhere in the world*. Terms and conditions apply.

When does the crowdsourcing project begin and how long will it take to complete the challenges?

The project went live to the public on 11 October 2022, during GITEX 2022. On average, each challenge takes from 3 to 6 months.

Why should people participate in DCT Abu Dhabi’s crowdsourcing project?

Winning participants shall receive remarkable incentives and prizes from DCT Abu Dhabi, with global exposure and outreach. They will also have access to Abu Dhabi’s change agents and business owners. Participants will also have the opportunity to be part of a larger-scale project across the region if selected.
