Cultivating a Thriving Agricultural future

As we embark on a new year, the Digital Agri Hub remains committed to serve as a trusted, data-driven resource on digital for agriculture (#D4Ag) innovations deployed in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Our commitment to serving as a trusted resource has propelled us to achieve remarkable milestones, and we are thrilled to share these triumphs and the valuable lessons learned with you. In our first edition, we update you on our journey, from surpassing 1100 solutions available in the dashboard to introducing the green badge of approval to sharing key insights on our e-conversations, among others. Get ready to be informed, inspired, and engaged as we continue to cultivate a brighter future together.

Celebrating milestones and embracing progress

Core to our work is to continue collecting, curating and publishing credible data and insights on existing digital solutions deployed in LMICs. Hosting over 1100+ #D4Ag solutions published in our dashboard is a feat worth celebrating while acknowledging the many contributions leading to this! Hence, our database of evidence has been growing consistently over the past period. In the last few months, we have introduced the green badge of approval, authenticating solutions available while ensuring the credibility and accuracy of solutions. The green badge signifies that the registered entity is maintaining its data, and that the Hub has completed its verification process. This ensures that the presented information is reliable and up-to-date. Green-badged solutions gain priority placement and higher visibility on the dashboard

Digital Agri Hub at the NENA event

Serving as a platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration and acceleration of #D4Ag adoption across the Near East and North Africa (NENA) region, the Digital Agriculture Solutions Forum 2023 (DASF 2023), was a landmark event held in Amman, Jordan. The Digital Agr Hub played an active role in the forum, highlighting the latest trends and developments in #D4Ag and showcasing the Hub's extensive collection of digital solutions for agriculture. Scaling Digital extension and advisory services

Across the agriculture value chain intermediaries act as facilitators and agents in a transaction that involves two or more parties. These intermediaries are interesting to look at, as they continue to play a crucial role in connecting smallholder farmers to markets. It is crucial to leverage their local expertise and strengths to design effective digital extension and advisory services. This raises the question of whether to combine the strengths of human intermediaries with digital technology to overcome challenges in scaling digital extension and advisory services for agriculture. Our latest article explores innovative ways to involve intermediaries in the design of digital extension and advisory services, leveraging their strengths and local expertise.

Digital Agri Hub debut appearance at the ICTforAg 2023 conference

A groundbreaking event that united agrifood system stakeholders, the highly anticipated ICTforAg 2023 virtual event, hosted by USAID in collaboration with Feed the Future , CGIAR , and DAI , proved to be a game-changing platform. It marked the Hub's inaugural presence, showcasing the remarkable progress being made.

Harnessing knowledge sharing within the D4Ag community

Since the beginning of the year, we have hosted engaging and thought-provocative e-conversations delving into the pertinent #D4Ag themes. Our latest edition of the e-conversation, in partnership with Genesis Analytics , Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH (FAIR Forward – Artificial Intelligence for All programme), and with the technical cooperation of USAID and the FAO, is exploring the relationship between Artificial Intelligence and Digitalisation for agriculture. Check out the summaries of the last three conversation on independent evidence of D4Ag impact, the challenging marriage between digitalisation and agroecology, and on enhancing digitalisation for agriculture with AI: Winners and Losers. PDF versions are available on The Hub’s events’ page.
