Customers = Advocates

Customers = Advocates

I was never a ‘math’ guy, but I’m going to step out on a limb here. It’s a simple formula for increasing sales: Customers + Reviews = Growth (in the form of: Repeat Business + New Business)

Whether a consumer is making a quick purchase on Amazon or just doing some homework through Google or Yelp, reviews have become a staple in the lives of many shoppers.

Yes, it’s important from a brand standpoint to have nice, warm, fuzzy messages floating around about your business. Yes, it’s an instant local SEO boost to have authentic reviews about your company. But, what does all of this really mean for your business?

Reviews are Important

According to the Spiegel Research Center, nearly 95% of shoppers read online reviews before making a purchase. Further, Zendesk reports that 88% of buyers are influenced in their buying decision by online reviews.

It’s true. Reviews have become important. Without the advantages of in-person sight and touch, online purchases are often risky. Reviews serve to alleviate the early onset of buyer’s remorse and help push consumer confidence toward clicking their way toward spending.

Two Concerns…

Yes, there are concerns. First, reviewers aren’t always fair or logical in their assessment. People are, after all, well…people. They are prone to mis-reading instructions or taking some misstep along the way that they may want to blame the manufacturer for when the fault might actually lie in the mirror. Further, they may have a hidden agenda, such as promoting one product over the one being reviewed.

Second, how do you get reviews? After all, most consumers are eager to vent their frustrations about a bad experience, while positive experiences are never recorded. With that in mind, it is challenging to create a volume of reviews that will, indeed, paint a fair picture of what a consumer will experience with you.

The Easy Answer

The easy answer to review success is in the following formula–I know, right…who knew there would be so much math today!

Reply + Request = Review Success

The best way to mitigate that first concern of negative reviews is to Reply to them. Stay on top of it by answering those neigh sayers with earnest understanding and help. This does two things: First, it helps that consumer get some semblance of assistance; and, second, it helps other on-looking consumers know that you’re there for them and that you care.

The next component…Request. You need to consistently ask for reviews. To get to that 4 Star-PLUS mark in Review Land, you need a solid volume of reviews.

An Even Easier Answer…

We get it. That formula sounds great, but when you’re running your business many aspects can fall through the proverbial cracks. Review Management might be one of those.

That’s why we can work with you and for you to not only repond to reviews–good and bad alike, but we can automate the review request process to help garner more and more reviews.
