Customers are talking about AI
In mid-April, OpenText World Europe 2024 touched down in London, Munich, and Paris, and the events were buzzing with talk about AI. From keynote speeches to customer interviews and live product demos, AI was a topic that people couldn’t get enough of.
One attendee who had a lot to say about AI was Leon Van Niekerk, head of testing at Pick n Pay Group, a retailer based in Cape Town, South Africa that operates in seven different countries with 52,000 employees. He took to the OpenText World Europe 2024 stage to tell the audience about his early experiences with OpenText™ DevOps Aviator.
Pick n Pay, which uses OpenText™ ValueEdge software delivery platform, is always looking to save time and resources when building new applications or updating existing ones. Van Niekerk’s team began testing DevOps Aviator to learn how it could impact application delivery. “It was an interesting journey,” he said. “Because, do we really believe in it? Do we really think it can take over all our testing efforts?”
To hedge its bets, the company decided to take software features it had already written manual test cases for and see if DevOps Aviator would produce the same results. It ended up DevOps Aviator suggested all the test cases that the team had already written, but also added a few more test cases each time that the team had not thought of.
“We got the feeling this might work for us,” he said. “So we’ve already changed our processes. This was a successful run for us in the beta release.”
Faster, easier, more comprehensive
By enabling the testing team to automate earlier in the process, DevOps Aviator will save effort, accelerate testing, and offer more test coverage to help improve application quality. What’s more, Pick n Pay can reduce the time it takes to train new employees because the company doesn’t need to teach them how to write test cases since DevOps Aviator does it for them. This shrinks training times by five to six weeks.
