Happy Christmas @DaveSnowden and Happy Birthday #Cynefin
There have been some interesting conversations on team size and organisational design this year. My thoughts are it not the size of the team that matters but how the players play together relative to context.
Are you in a chaotic scenario where you all need is to march to the beat of the same drum?
Are you the punk rockers creating anarchy at the boundary between chaos and complex?
Is your song the product of experience and environment (blues, rap or soul)? Or do you need to experiment to find your own song?
Are you unordered and jazz like where no one wants to hear you play or confused by white noise?
Or are you happy singing a long to those simple lyrics where everyone knows the chorus (or can mumble along)?
If you have worked out scaling or that happy fusion sound that makes it easy to move between complex and complicated please let me know
Lastly:
- not everyone is going to like your music
- a good player can fit into most groups
- have never seen a rapper with a conductors (or consultant)
In the words of John Lydon (Johnny Rotten) “anger is an energy” – you need a bit of friction to create the heat for disruption
Enjoy the holidays!
