Tactical Fiber Optic Communication Systems Set for CV90 Combat Vehicles

Halmstad-based company AB Micropol Fiberoptic is set to provide its field tactical fiber optic communication systems for BAE Systems Hägglunds AB combat vehicle, the CV90. 

The new agreement covers deliveries for both new and upgraded CV90 vehicles for Sweden and four other European customers, with significant order value extending through 2032.

Micropol’s CEO, Peter Ljungkvist, commented, “The new order is an important recognition of our excellent cooperation with BAE Systems Hägglunds.

“It is rewarding to note how Micropol’s expertise in digitalization and communication in harsh environments is acknowledged, providing operational advantages in the combat field, as demonstrated by the repeated trust that BAE Systems Hägglunds places in us.”

U.S. Army to Trial Stealth UGV in S-MET Program

HDT Global ’s Hunter WOLF, a military unmanned ground vehicle (UGV), has been selected by the US Army for the Small Multipurpose Equipment Transport (S-MET) Increment II program. 

The Hunter WOLF is a 6×6 wheeled UGV with enhanced transportability and mobility. Characterized by its stealth, ruggedness, ease of operation and maintenance, the Hunter WOLF boasts a robust steel frame, electric motors, and a hybrid electric drive. This delivers power, durability, stealth, efficient power export, and superior mobility.

Silicon Sensing Trials DMU41 IMU for Space Platform Guidance

Silicon Sensing Systems Ltd has worked with Science Tokyo, a prominent science and technology university in Japan, to evaluate the capabilities of the DMU41 inertial measurement unit (IMU) for low earth orbit (LEO) space applications. 

The testing program assessed the use of Silicon Sensing’s high-performance DMU41 for guidance and attitude control on commercial LEO platforms. 

Silicon Sensing General Manager, David Somerville, stated; “Working with the prestigious Science Tokyo on this new test programme to demonstrate the capabilities of our DMU41 IMU has been a milestone development for us, as we celebrate our 25th year of business.

“The global LEO satellite market, with a CAGR predicted at around 17% over the next 4 – 5 years, is an important future market for us – and an area where we are already experiencing growing demand. In this environment performance, size, endurance and power consumption are all critical factors where we believe our technology can make a real performance difference.”

Red Cat to Equip Australian Navy with Military-Grade Tricopters

Red Cat Holdings has received a new contract and order for 12 of its FlightWave Edge 130 Blue system from the Royal Australian Navy. 

FlightWave, a provider of VTOL drone, sensor and software solutions was acquired by Red Cat, a drone technology company integrating robotic hardware and software for military, government, and commercial operations, in September 2024. 

The acquisition brought FlightWave’s flagship drone, the Edge 130 Blue into its family of low-cost, portable unmanned reconnaissance and precision lethal strike systems. FlightWave’s size, weight and vertical take off capabilities makes it ideal for maritime operations and littoral environments.
