THIS WEEK’S WINE REVIEW:
For the last blog of the year, each year I list my Top 20 Wines of that year – not in order, just my favourites out of the 2,000+ wines I have reviewed for the year.
This year the number of wines reviewed was down somewhat due to two doses of Covid-19 and then being “lucky” enough to score long-Covid. As a result, I had to cancel out on a number of wine tastings and there were no overseas trips either. I was particularly sad to miss the bienniall Samuel Smith & Sons-Negociants, which always encompasses some totally brilliant wines from around the world. The other event that I was really sad to miss was the Tastin’France trade tasting, in Sydney, in November. It is a brilliant showcase of the wide variety, depth and quality of French wines.
