DAN'S WINE BLOG- THIS WEEK'S WINE REVIEW
This week I am talking about #verdejo- a native white Spanish variety that comes from the #rueda region of Spain, where it accounts for around 80% of the region’s wine production.
I first discovered Verdejo almost a decade ago when I visited Rueda and came across this amazing variety. They make 5 different style of Verdejo- Sparkling, un-oaked steel fermented, oaked steel fermented, oak fermented and dessert wine from this one grape variety.
In recent years a few intrepid Aussie winemakers- 11 so far have started growing this wonderful variety. I am planning to write an article on Verdejo next year.
However todays wine comes from Rueda Spain but is actually available here in Australia it is the sensational- 360 Wines 2022 oak matured Rueda Verdejo- from the The Islander Estate Vineyards
This delicious wine has a subtle, elegant bouquet of lime & citrus. The palate has fabulous texture, rich citrus flavours with delightful crisp acidity & a super, zingy, refreshing finish, making it a great food wine.
OLE, OLE MAGNIFICO!!!
