Contrarily, cautionary voices, including those from Elon Musk and late Stephen Hawking, express concerns about AI as a potential existential threat. Nick Bostrom's book "Superintelligence" posits AI surpassing human intellect, thereby posing risks greater than nuclear weapons. Historically, such optimistic or ominous warnings have persisted for decades. Indeed, the contemporary discourse reflects a complex blend of optimism, caution, and ongoing uncertainties, drawing parallels between advanced technology and magic in Arthur Clarke's third law: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” However, recent calls have taken this discourse to a much higher and potentially harmful level.
