Day 132 - Lessons I learned from a bad thugs’ incident (1,000 days content creation challenge)

I had a very challenging incident with thugs on 9th November, 2024. I won’t go into details because I want to minimize reliving the experience. Just know it impacted me negatively from a physical, mental, emotional and financial perspective. This partly explains why I have not been posting for almost a month.

Luckily, here I am feeling much better compared to the first few days of the incident.

So, what did I learn from this experience?

Life can change in an instant. Value every moment because you never know what the next minute will bring.

Family and friends are priceless. I called my wife and then friends for help in the moment. Family and friends are God’s equivalent of angels.

God is always with us. I have been told that some people have had it even worse than I did. It means that regardless of what happened, God’s grace was still with me for an extra invisible cover of protection.

Have daily online backups. I lost over 50% of my data. I had a thought of instant online backups which I did not implement in good time. Big wake up call.

Block lines immediately. I delayed to call the networks to block the cell phone lines. These were used to change passwords and log into emails and other accounts because to access certain detail there is need for OTPs which come through your registered line.

Track immediately if you can because there is a small window when your phone can easily be tracked. I lost that window as I was focused on health more than anything else.

You can restart again. It is what it is. Life continues. I Am not yet into the full flow of things but I know that I will finally get there. Most important thing is that I Am alive.

I was reminded again as to how our young people need help. More interventions required. To be equipped with the skills and the mindsets of creating value rather than stealing. If you are in such a space of equipping young people, keep going regardless of the challenges because even one life saved from being part of such gangs makes a big difference. A big difference for that one young person and the potential damage to the world. That’s why I Am a big fan of Vijana Poa program which focuses on equipping young people with employability and entrepreneurship skills. By the way, in case you are not yet a member of Rotary International, consider doing so.

God’s blessings unto you.

Great lessons here in Ethan Musolini. Glad to hear you are better now and seeing this post is an exciting moment as someone who is following this challenge. May God continue to Heal you and restore you back. Just like the story of Job in the Bible, these moments are a transition to greater service. Blessings to you🙏
