The Day You Became an AI Musician

AI is impacting all industries, and the music industry is no exception. One of the most exciting AI tools is AI text-to-music, which allows users to create music from text instructions. This technology will revolutionize how music is created. Now I'll teach you how to make a song using AI. I guarantee you won't regret this fun read!

There are many AI-to-music tools currently. Among them, I found Suno and Udio are the best. P.S. no one paid me to say this :) I'll show you how to create songs using these two tools as examples.

Using Suno as an example

Steps: 1) Create a Suno account. 2) Write a description in the "Song description" field. 3) Click "Create". See screenshot below.

For each prompt, Suno will generate 2 songs with the same title and lyrics. The only difference between the 2 songs is the music style. Below are 2 examples of how I used Suno to create songs. Check it out!

Example 1

Prompt: Create a motivating song that speak to tech workers. Talk about the daily grind, the stress and joy of it all.

Output: Suno generated a song titled "Daily Grind". It gave me 2 versions, same lyrics but different music styles. I liked the title. It fits very well with what I asked for. The lyrics are well written and the music for both versions are great too! Check out the 2 output songs below!

Example 2

Prompt: Write a song titled "The day you achieved financial freedom". Describe how proud you feel towards your hard work, discipline of saving, how free and happy you feel.

Output: Suno gave me 2 output songs with the title I designated "The day you achieved financial freedom". The lyrics are same for the 2 songs. I loved the lyrics. They are so well written. The music style for both songs are great too.

Using Udio as an example

Steps: 1) Create a Udio account. 2) Write a description in the "description" field in the top middle section. 3) Click "Create". See screenshot below.

For each prompt, Udio will also generate 2 variations of songs, but with different titles and lyrics. Udio currently has 2 models, Udio-130 and Udio-32. Udio-130 can generate 130s (2min 10sec) clips while Udio-32 generates 32s clips. Below are 2 examples of how I used Udio to create songs. I used the same prompts as the examples in Suno, so you can compare and see which one you like better.

Example 1

Prompt: Create a motivating song that speak to tech workers. Talk about the daily grind, the stress and joy all involved. [Note, I chose model Udio-130]

Output: Udio generated 2 variations of songs. One is titled "Tech Train" and the other is "Breaking the Code". Both are around 130s long. Both have good lyrics and music. Just the styles are different.

Example 2

Prompt: Write a song titled "The day you achieved financial freedom". Describe how proud you feel towards your hard work, discipline of saving, how free and happy you feel. [Note, I chose model Udio-32]

Output: Suno gave me 2 output songs with 2 different titles. It didn't use the title I wrote. Instead, it created its own titles. One is "Victory of Freedom"; another is "Triumph is Freedom". Both are 32s long as I chose model Udio-32. The lyrics and style vary a bit between the 2 songs. Both are good.
