■ Due to personal reasons and the ongoing shortage of skilled workers, Erwin and Markus Hindelang have announced their decision to downsize their car dealership in Stötten. They will also terminate their service partnership with VW and Skoda by the end of the year.

■ In March 1985, Erwin Hindelang opened his business in Stötten as an independent workshop. From 1991 to 2007, he took over the service partnership for the car brands VW and Audi, and his car dealership was then - and still is today - an authorized workshop for VW and Skoda. The business was expanded in 1997 to include a gas station. A new workshop hall was also built in 2014. At its peak, the car dealership had 25 employees.

■ Several strokes of fate hit the operators

Erwin Hindelang faced a tragic turn of events when his wife died in a traffic accident in 2020. After this loss, he planned to hand over the family business to his son, Markus, on March 1, 2023, so that he could retire. However, fate struck again when Markus suffered a severe stroke on March 9, 2023. In light of this event, and the ongoing staff shortage, they have now decided to slow down and downsize the business.

■ In a personal letter, they informed their customers that they had terminated the service partnership with Volkswagen and Skoda at the end of the year. Starting in March 2025, they will shift their business focus to offering only minor repairs and will not be hiring any additional employees. This marks the end of a 52-year era with Volkswagen for Erwin Hindelang and a 33-year era for the dealership in Stötten. Both Hindelangs expressed their gratitude to the customers who have remained loyal to the car dealership for decades.

Starting March 1, 2025, customers at the Hindelang car dealership will experience changes to service operations, as the dealership will no longer be affiliated with VW and Skoda. Minor repairs will still be offered by appointment during new hours in a four-day work week. Services will include minor sheet metal repairs, hail damage repairs, dent removal, paintwork, and vehicle preparation. For major accident damage, the Hindelang team is available to assist.

The gas station and car wash will remain accessible to the public during the new operating hours, which will be posted on the car dealership's website. Vehicle sales will continue to be conducted in person, and customers can still place orders for new cars and EU vehicles.
