Heat interface unit´s (HIU´s) are part of modern domestic hot water (DHW) preparation in many places and state of the art. They regulate the room temperature and allows the preparation of DHW based on demand. In order to make this as efficient as possible, Flamco Meibes improving their products and product ranges continuously. A market innovation is the new electronically operating HIU series “LogoMatic G2”. What makes this new generation even more economical and convenient are the adaptable control technology and the smart communication options. With this innovation quick and precise DHW temperatures can be achieved regardless of varying primary temperatures and the customer get the opportunity to have a high level of individual comfort.

The LogoMatic G2 HIU
The LogoMatic G2 from Flamco Meibes is used for indirect DHW preparation and direct heating supply, which can be electronically controlled. Based on the design and the type of control it´s possible to achieve the max. of the energy-efficiency of the network and application with maximum convenience. The product series is available in three different DHW performance classes (S, M and L-Line) and also as a complete station (all in) and final stations. Final stations give the planer and installer the opportunity to set up a project individual product combination of the HIU combined with different UFH manifolds, flush or surface mountable housings, etc. Customers can make a choice between a fully insulated surface-mountable version with an EPP design housing and the particularly space-saving and invisible flush-mountable version with an installation depth of >110mm. Due to the low installation depth of the HIU (starting from 110mm), it is also suitable for the installation in lightweight walls and thus as an 'invisible' installation. “This gives the builder more living space that can be sold, which is becoming more and more important today in urban regions. The future owner or tenant of the apartment also gains more living space.” In addition, the topic of the thermal separation from the domestic cold water (DCW) inlet had a priority in the constructive realization. "When the EPP insulating housing is used, the DCW inlet inside the LogoMatic G2 is separated from the rest of the HIU by an insulation shield in order to largely avoid the temperature increase of the DCW side within the HIU," added Gordon Schadwinkel.
The HIU is also available with an integrated DHW circulation system that can be adjusted according to customer requirements. The setting of the running times can be done in different modes in order to meet the comfort requirements but also the legal requirements per country for minimum running times per day. It also enables the heating circuit supply of radiator and underfloor heating circuits, whereby different control options are given. In addition to this, a weather-compensated heating circuit control can be easily set and thus enables an efficient operation of the primary network.
The product series includes the possibility to add UFH manifolds for up to 12 mixing circuits as well as pre-wiring packages (for the wiring of the UFH manifold combined with terminal strip and the actuators) to minimize time and costs as well as risks during the installation on-site.
“In order to ensure long-term functionality, no sensitive moving parts are installed in the domestic water part,” explains Gordon Schadwinkel. "In addition, and this is also a market innovation from Flamco Meibes, the stations are now also optionally available with sealed plate heat exchanger for high operational reliability with difficult drinking water." Furthermore, the LogoMatic G2 will also be offered for passive cooling in the future. “We at Flamco Meibes have been setting standards in decentralized DHW preparation and living space temperature control for decades. In order to meet the project-specific DHW performance requirements and also to enable a quick selection of the corresponding LogoMatic G2, based on the project requirements with regard to the DHW outlet temperatures and the existing primary flow temperatures, performance diagrams and tables are created and available.
Starting from the check of the connections, to presetting of the primary heating flow temperatures or the DHW circulation times – during a commissioning of a HIU a lot of things has to be observed. Flamco Meibes offers the perfect digital solution: The app Flamconnect guides installers step by step through the commissioning process and also relieves them of later service.
The Flamconnect app contains a lot of tools and information that installers or service technicians need in action, whether to prepare a customer visit, to set up a product, to carry out a repair or to carry out preventive maintenance. Once the app is installed on the smartphone or tablet, the QR code on the LogoMatic G2 only needs to be scanned and various helpers, including a troubleshooting tree, an assistant for commissioning and much more, are ready to use. In addition, relevant data on the product and customer can be stored.
“With the app, we optimally support our installers and service technicians in their daily work because with Flamconnect they always have all product-specific information available. With the commissioning assistant, we also reduce the risk of errors to a minimum. Ultimately, this also increases service and, as a result, customer satisfaction. The commissioning protocol also enables to show that the commissioning has been carried out correctly and to invoice it accordingly” says Gordon Schadwinkel, Head of Product Management.

In addition to the LogoMatic G2 HIU´s, the Flamconnect app is also available for the Simplex Secos surface heating control system and Flamcomat G4 control modules for automatic pressure maintenance devices. The integration of further products is being planned.
