Desiderata for 2020

Today marks a date that is a palindrome and to celebrate this new decade and this occasion I decided to attempt to write a Desiderata for 2020.

You are a part of the universe, yes you are 97% made of the same atoms as the rest of the galaxy. We’re all are made from carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorus and sulfur and astronomers have proved that there is an abundance of these elements in our stars.

So, if you’re at a loss for direction try to be a part of that universe, connect to those energies and absorb them to find a stable grounding and your path in life.

Trust your gut, follow your instincts, work hard, learn, develop to attain the tools to follow your ambitions, goals and dreams, avoid stagnation, stay fluid and remain in the bosom of calmness and patience; mother earth and the universe takes it’s time; do everything it takes to connect, even if all that is just leading you to a peaceful, serene and fulfilled life.

Cut out the noise and listen inside yourself, you will learn to hear what you need to hear, to help you do what you need to do, but listen carefully and hear, always. Listen to those around you, absorb their knowledge, gain insight, and stay open.

Be comfortable alone, but not lonely. Accept others for who they are, good or not, and without absorbing their discomfort, be mindful that you are not wearing their shoes, you haven’t travelled their road, and be kind, as you don’t know what they are going through. At the same time surround yourself with people who emit positive and endearing vibes so you can feed each other, and grow from that nourishment.

Close the door to drama, don’t allow it or create it in your orbit, try to disembroil yourself from the drama that others create and try and suck you into, it is their disquiet to carry, not yours.

Refrain from speaking words that cause pain, anxiety, hurt or judgement to others. Don’t scream at others nor make them feel inadequate, insignificant or small and raise your voice only to speak your own truth.

Set yourself outside the boxes and restraints with confidence – yes, don’t allow anyone to categorise you, group or frown at your desire to be different, innovative, fluid, for wanting to be yourself and not what they want to make of you; make yourself a circle and get rid of the boxes, avoid stagnation and rigidity.

Go peacefully amid the noise and crowds, travel lightly and wisely and arrive as you are meant to be, a whole, undivided human being.

Be yourself, your true self and remain true to others.
