🏛️Andy’s Prompting Tips: Chain-of-Thought Prompting

When tackling more complex tasks with AI, consider implementing Chain-of-Thought prompting (CoT). This technique involves breaking down problem-solving into explicit steps, mirroring human cognitive processes. 

To employ this effectively:

• Start with a clear task description
• Provide one or more examples that demonstrate step-by-step reasoning
• Prompt the AI to "think step by step" when addressing new problems
• Consider ending the prompt with the scientifically tested and proven phrase “Take a deep breath. Work on this problem step by step”

CoT can significantly enhance performance on multi-step reasoning tasks, from mathematical problem-solving to logical deductions. By guiding the AI through a structured thought process, you're more likely to receive accurate, well-reasoned responses. The key is to make the thinking process explicit, allowing the AI to learn and apply similar reasoning patterns to novel scenarios.
