A Hawaiian Mystic Sheds Light on the Paradigm Shift

To help shape an idea of where we have been and where we are going, I have the story of Hale Kealohalani Makua for you. I came across a book by Hank Wesselman called The Bowl of Light that brings some valuable insights to our discussion. The book recounts conversations between Wesselman and a highly respected Hawaiian teacher and healer, Hale Kealohalani Makua. Mr. Wesselman states at the beginning of his book that it was Makua who, “entrusted me with his spiritual knowledge and who encouraged me to bring it to a wider world.” Makua was a modern day shaman and direct descendant of a long line of Hawaiian spiritual leaders. This Wesselman book, along with his earlier books in “The Spiritwalker” series, is very insightful and filled with stories of realities quite different than the ones most of us accept as the world we live in. The truly exciting element for me was that all of the concepts expressed from Makua’s wisdom tradition are right in sync with the story told by this book from a place far away in time and space and culture.

The paradigm we are discussing is presented in a very definitive way with an explanation that comes from generations of Hawaiian mystics and cultural leaders. Makua tells Wesselman that we are entering the “Sixth Level of Reality,” which began in late 2013. We have evolved through levels of pure survival to levels of ever increasing spiritual awareness. Gradually through thousands of years, we have gained awareness of our true nature as the shapers of our own and creation’s future path.

From Wesselman’s book, “You see,” Makua said, his dark eyes gazing deeply into the far distance, “it is at the sixth level that we really begin to establish an ongoing and formal connection with ‘Aumakua, our Higher Self, and when we do, we find something that is very important. This is when we discover ‘Aumakua, our personal god-self, was, is, and forever will be our true teacher in spirit.  This is why we will never find a better teacher than ourselves.” Makua went on to say concerning this next cycle of existence, “This means that we have to create a new foundation for the next cycle, and what we decide to build on this will determine the spiritual focus as well as our lifeways for much of the next several thousand years.”

Social conditioning is ever more pervasive and powerful as the Technology Age advances, dramatically establishing communication between all members of our world community as never before. We are bombarded each day with opinions and information claiming to define reality. As we will discuss in these pages, whatever we accept to be true will become true for each of us. We must recognize that we are in control. We must refuse to believe in and accept “realities” that we don’t want. That is why big social changes often take generations to happen. The old beliefs must slowly fall out of favor to allow new ones to emerge as the cast of actors on the stage of life changes and new storylines emerge. That’s the REALITY we need to know: we are each believing into being our own storylines with everything about our destiny in our own hands even if it does not seem like it.  We have the ability to create, through our own imagination, new realities that eventually become the new and improved storylines for the adventure of life.

The main goal of this guidebook is to hopefully wake you up to the fact that you have been cast to play a crucial part in moving the physical world toward a new and more enlightened, joy-filled reality. As Makua stated, we are entering a new age of Man. It is very important that each of us accept responsibility for our personal evolution and thus the social and spiritual evolution of the world we live in. This is not a burden; it is a glorious quest, you could easily call it a quest of mythical proportions.

If you are willing to get in the game, you will discover that what you believe to be reality can be shifted very quickly, and that it is just the subjective perception of that bio-computer mind of yours. Most importantly, you will realize that you can alter your reality at will. It is not a fixed thing. It is what we will later discuss as a “controlled hallucination.” Reality has no substance other than what you choose to believe.

This is why I am suggesting the analogy that your life can be lived as a glorious adventure game – a courageous mission to wield your innate creative power to shape an ever more magnificent and love-filled world of beauty and personal satisfaction. It is an adventure game, and we are at the stage where we need to move past the primary focus on the physical dimension. Yes, there will continue to be more wonderful scientific and technological developments, but the real playing field has moved to a higher level. You are now on a quest to engage with your higher self – that greater part of you that is infinite and all knowing – the God part of you. Don’t get caught up in religious terms – those are only analogies often incorrectly portraying how the cosmos works. Our adventure is about learning to wield energy and how to be the conduit for the infinite creative power and knowledge that is your true nature.

The hope is that the words in this document have been chosen and placed in a manner that seeds of awareness will be planted, that you may have flashes of inspiration or maybe just confirmation of concepts you have already considered. We have the power to transform reality, and the better we get at transforming it in line with our hopes and dreams, the more joy and love and fun we will have in each of our life experiences. That’s the real objective for the character we have created to play this adventure game – make the world a more carefree and loving place – everything else is just a subplot of the main storyline.

Shakespeare’s line, “All the world is a stage and all the men and women are merely players,” is more than mere metaphor. A part of your consciousness is likely to rebel at this idea, but we are going to elaborate. You live in a world where formless energy and vibration are given shape and meaning by your conditioned perception and the consensus of opinion of groups of individuals. You have decided on the components of your personal “reality.” There is no right or wrong, good or bad in your life, except as you decide it. It doesn’t matter what anyone else does or thinks, you totally control your own reality. You live in a world significantly different from any of your friends or relatives or co-workers, or anyone else for that matter. Your reality is unique. It shares components of the reality of others – things that you have decided to agree upon, like gravity and linear time and the basic scenery surrounding you through commonly accepted life activities. The important point is that everything is based on your choices - 100% control is always in your mind’s eye – you can be deliberate about your future or simply be reactionary.

The Wizard of Oz

This story provides a wonderful metaphor for our quest in this life we find ourselves. Dorothy and her three friends, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion and the Scarecrow, all followed a difficult path following the Yellow Brick Road in search of something very important that they each wanted. When they finally arrived at the end of the road in Oz, they got their chance to speak to the powerful and magical Wizard of Oz. After they told him what they each wanted, he sent them out on a quest, telling them if they accomplished the tasks he demanded, t he would grant their wishes.

Hopefully you have seen this magical movie and remember it was not without overcoming danger and solving some considerable problems that they did in fact accomplish the tasks assigned to them by the Wizard of Oz. They then made their return to Oz in the hope of getting what they each most wanted. They all believed that the great and powerful Wizard of Oz would now grant each of their wishes. This is when one of the most important scenes in the movie happens – Dorothy’s dog Toto playfully runs forward and pulls back a curtain enclosing a small alcove at the side of the huge room. Behind this curtain is a man feverishly pulling on levers and turning controls while talking into a microphone. Toto has reveled that the great and powerful Oz is really an elaborate illusion.

Are our four triumphant characters now lost and left without a path to fulfill their dreams? Not in the least – and why is that? Many of us have sought someone or something outside of ourselves for our answers and the secret of happiness. The great and powerful magic of The Wizard of Oz was that of belief. Because the Wizard has been revealed as something less than the reality he had presented, he tells his disappointed characters that the “magic” was always theirs to wield – changing what they believed would transport them to the reality they desired. The Wizard of Oz shows Dorothy’s three friends that they have already found the things they sought because the very things they wanted were required for the success of their journey and their quest.

The Tin Man realized he had a heart full of love and warmth. The Cowardly Lion realized he had in fact been very brave. The Scarecrow accepted as fact that he had shown himself to be quite smart and must have a fine brain. Dorothy still needed to get home, so the Wizard calls on some help from his friend the good witch Gwendolyn, who tells Dorothy that she could go home anytime she wanted – she just needed to believe in going home. And so, Dorothy returned to Kansas with a click of the heels of the ruby red shoes she had gotten on her arrival.

This movie parallels the adventure that many of us are living. Do we not all often look for or hope for something outside of ourselves to give us happiness and make us feel safe and secure? Do we think there is someone or something out there like the Wizard of Oz who can make our dreams come true? Has your Yellow Brick Road led you to discover some new truths in unexpected places? Repeating Makua’s words, our Emerald City of Oz is where “we discover ‘Aumakua, our personal god-self, was, is and forever will be our true teacher in spirit. This is why we will never find a better teacher than ourselves.”

Well, that’s where you are. And your answer is exactly the same as Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion and the Scarecrow. All the answers and magic are in you. You are in control. You are the creator of your personal reality, and all you have to do is tap the heels of those ruby red slippers together and BELIEVE in what you want.

The promise of this book is that by adopting the perspective that you are an adventurer in this game of Creation, you can learn to write your own script – design the adventure that you want to live.

This does not mean that you will have no struggles or obstacles to deal with – they are important for your growth and creative skill development. The value in adopting this view of reality is that you will know you have the ability to positively affect not only your own life but all of Creation. You will also know that nothing can go wrong. You are an immortal being who has chosen to dream up a physical world to interact with for fun and adventure. It is also true that you don’t have to do anything special if you don’t want to, but you will likely have a lot more satisfaction and fun in your life if you develop your skills as the powerful creator of reality you are.
