Desire is the Problem - "The Buddha said"

I started to listen to “The Buddha said” from Osho on audible. Sure, I could start reading buddhist texts directly, please recommend any. I like listening to Osho because he speaks simple and clear.

Stop desiring material things

“Desire is misery.

If you desire it means you have moved away from reality.

Desire is isolation.

What you desire is irrelevant.

If you desire, you fall into the trap of a dream.”

Don’t even desire enlightenment

“Religions and most spiritual schools have simply changed the object of desire. They say do not desire material things anymore but desire “God things” otherwise known as “spiritual ego”. More “advanced”, more spiritual evolution or recognitions, more levels to pass to become a master and then there is always a better master.

You could also desire “paradise” or the “palace of God” on the other side but then you will always wonder if it will happen or not.

There is nowhere to go. Just be here now.

When you understand desire, desire disappears as light comes in a dark room

When you are desire-less you are calm and collected and ego disappears. Desire is being in conflict with the law of nature.

Your being is your actions

Just focus on what you are doing now and do it as best as you can. The painter enjoys the act of painting not if there will be a good result or not. Someone asked Van Gogh “what is your best painting” he said “this one I am painting now”.

How to apply this now

I do things every day. They certainly could be better like a painting could always be better. I do many things that when I look back I should have done differently. It is precisely because I did them that I learned I could have done it differently and would not have otherwise.

Talking about doing

I am “doing” PAWA in about 10 days. There are many things I could keep thinking should be better but instead I just do everything I can in a short period of time and deliver that. I try to be as present as possible inviting speakers.

3 days left to buy a discount ticket 333 euros instead of 555 to PAWA Paris

We are happy to announce two amazing additions to our speakers, the inventor of the iPhone Tony Fadell and inventor of the Gene Keys Richard Rudd.

Finally, during our community zoom call tomorrow at 18h CET we will have three women who also speak at Pawa Paris.

Nicole Schwab is working on planting 1 trillion trees. Solen Amenarah Mukhande and Lydia Turco Aka have been walking the consciousness and indigenous paths for twenty years, they are both leaders and teachers now even though they are not indigenous.

Zoom link 18h CET on Oct 4th.

You can also listen to these thoughts with more emotions on this episode of my podcast also on Apple Podcasts, Amazon and Spotify

Have a great week!

To desire is human and one should not repress that feeling but try to fulfill your dreams and desires even if it takes a lifetime. It is what gives you joy and pain. It makes you feel alive. If you think that desiring something is wrong, you should ask yourself why you think that, what is wrong so you worry about this. The actual problem is thinking. If you feel fine and have no worries, you don't think about if desiring is a problem or not, you just enjoy life. So which worry causes you to think? Try to solve that first. It might take years. But once solved, you will be freed of thinking or worrying and desiring something or someone won't be the problem anymore.

Lest we forget that spirit is in the material too, Loic! It's just a different expression of the same truth, "reality" and unity. ☯ Desire doesn't only lead to misery. It comes down to how we react when our desires aren't met. Life would be pretty dull without desire. I also think it's a pretty beautiful aspect of the human experience that we sometimes feel disappointed when our desires aren't met. Do we really want to avoid all misery and suffering? Sending positive vibes for the Yawa Conference!
