Despised by his own brothers
Who would have thought that his own brothers were capable of selling him to strange men not considering if these men would kill him- in these time and age, you would have thought they would use him for rituals.
That was even nothing compared to the idea of killing him and throwing him into the well - thanks to his eldest brother who suggested this milder approach.
But these were supposed to be sons of a man of God who were taught in the way of God.
Why the hatred though? Was is it his big dreams which seemed some what demeaning to his brothers?
Or was it the fact that he was the favorite of his father?
Oh well, he would never know now since he was on his way to his new home.
But he bore no grudge towards his brothers.
Finally, accepted his fate as he was sold to work for a prominent man, maybe he could make some quick bucks here.
His boss gradually took a special liking to him which led to his promotion.
Finally, it felt like all things were working out for his good after his ordeal with his brothers.
But that wasn't the end of trouble for him as his boss’ wife took interest in him.
He didn't even know how handsome he had grown to be over the years but this attention wasn't something he anticipated.
She tried several times to seduce him but he was very keen in his stance as a man who feared God and respected his boss.
Seeing that he refused her, she decided to frame him up as a rapist- another setback which took him to the prison.
Unmoved by all these happenings, he became a well respected dreamterpreter in the prison helping one of the king's servants to be restored back to the palace.
With an unfulfilled promise of remembering him when he got released, he waited patiently until an opportunity came for him to use his gifts of interpreting dreams to eventually save his people from famine.
His reward- a prime minister in charge of almost everything in the land.
Where were his brothers?-Now fulfilling his dreams with heads bowed unknown to them that he was the same brother who was once despised for his dreams.
Where was his boss’ wife?-we were never told exactly; probably caught this time having her way with another servant.

Major Takeaway- Joseph’s story is one of faith in God, strength, resilience and love.
It only took a dream for Joseph to be so sure that he was going to be a great person. When God gives you a dream, do you believe it and run with it or you wait for validation from people before you move?
Who would have thought he would easily forgive his brothers just like that?He could have easily decided to take a revenge on his brothers for everything they did to him, but he didn't.
Having a dream is good but without the character and fear of God to keep you in low moments, your dreams will remain invalid.
Your family and closest friends might not even understand the dream God gives you. Remember that visions are personal. Believe it and run with it, run with God and no matter the setbacks you face, you will surely win.
NB- This is my personal illustration of Joseph's story from the bible.
Scripture reference- Genesis 37
What do you think about Joseph's story? How would you have reacted if you were in his shoes?
