📗 The GenAI Book - 12y in AI, 8y in GenAI, 25+ Expert Points of View, and 10+ Client Projects in GenAI

I am excited to announce that my book’s hardcopy has been released!

Generative AI - Navigating the Course to the AGI Future (AGI - Artificial General Intelligence/ (super)human intelligence)

This book is NOT a superficial summary.

Because:

  1. I have been in the space since 2016, and in 2018, I launched the WORLD's first online course about Generative AI - 4.5 years before the hype. -> Accurate description of GenAI’s emergence.
  2. My teams and I have implemented over 10 GenAI solutions for clients from SMBs to large corporations. -> current business relevancy.
  3. I follow research closely (data scientist by training). I am in frequent conversations about the future of AI (soon AGI) with seasoned AI experts like Dr. Harald Gunia, Anton Volovyk, David Foster, and, when I get the chance, like at conferences with Julien Simon, Peter Norvig, Stuart Russel. -> reasoned path to the AGI Future and the impact on humanity.
  4. I spoke with 10+ leading experts on AI’s ethical and societal impact, now and in the future.

After Reading the Book

You not only have an understanding of the tech but also a book to set yourself and your company up to be future-proof, anticipating trends that are on the horizon.

As the tech is moving at an ever faster pace, trends on the horizon are arriving faster than ever.

Learn the tech beyond chatbots: image gen, video gen, 3D object gen, generative design, GenAI in science, GenAI for data analytics, GenAI for planning and negotiations, (autonomous) AI Agents, music gen, synthetic data gen, and more.

The book also goes into how to utilize GenAI through cloud providers like Azure, GCP, and AWS.

The “Finding the Untapped—A Systematic Approach to Success” section uncovers plenty of GenAI potential where you might position yourself. It is not in a telling way, but it supports you in using YOUR expertise to find your place in the space.

🥇 My golden nugget in the book (distilling 12 years in AI, 8 years in GenAI, 25+ expert points of view, and 10+ cutting-edge client projects in GenAI) is the proven (!) GenAI ideation-to-scale process!

One of my favorite book praisals:

🌞 Overview of the Latest LLM Releases

We have many model updates in the AI space:

  1. Mistral AI released Mistral Large on February 26, 2024. It is their flagship model with top-tier reasoning capabilities. (See more here.)
  2. Anthropic released the Claude 3 model family (Haiku, Sonnet, and Opus) on March 4, 2024. Claude 3 Opus is claimed to outperform GPT-4 and other leading models on various benchmarks, but it is not fully there yet—but it is close. (See more here.)
  3. Inflection AI released Inflection-2.5 on March 7, 2024, powering their Pi chatbot. It nearly matches GPT-4's capabilities while using only 40% of the training compute. I tried it via their Pi, and one can now really see that it starts leveling with real therapy. (Source)
  4. Then, Abacus AI's Smaug-70B-v0.1 caused some commotion. (See more here.)
  5. On February 8, 2024, Google released Gemini Ultra 1.0, its strongest LLM. Gemini Ultra surpasses former leading models like GPT-4 across various benchmarks, including a 90% score on the MMLU, exceeding the human expert performance of 86.4%. (See more here.)However, it faces a massive backlash due to misrepresentations of various ethnicities.
  6. Elon Musk's xAI has officially open-sourced its Grok language model, Grok-1, under the Apache 2.0 license. Grok-1 is a 314 billion parameter Mixture-of-Experts model trained from scratch by xAI. (Side note: This release is significant given the increasing tensions between Musk and OpenAI and Musk's ongoing criticisms of AI companies prioritizing profits over safety and transparency.)(Source)
  7. Meta plans to release Llama 3, the newest version of its open-source large language model, in July 2024. To train Llama 3, Meta is using two newly introduced 24,576 GPU clusters.

⁉️ So, a lot is going on, but when is OpenAI releasing GPT-5?

🧨 Devin AI - The world’s first AI Software Engineer

(Source)

Devin AI has landed as the first-ever fully self-reliant AI software engineer, a groundbreaking move in AI and software development. Devin comes from a US-based AI lab named Cognition.

Key Features and Capabilities

  • Self-Sufficient in Software Development: Devin is crafted to tackle and manage complex engineering projects independently without constant human guidance.
  • Progressive Learning: It's designed to evolve by learning, indicating that its efficiency and effectiveness could escalate as it works on diverse software projects.
  • Teamwork Ability: Even as an AI, Devin is equipped to collaborate, possibly with human engineers or other AI systems, towards shared objectives. But also in a multi-agent framework.

Impact and Considerations

Devin's debut has ignited discussions on the future landscape of software engineering and AI's role in the workforce, highlighting:

  • Potential Job Displacement: There's a looming concern over Devin and similar AI technologies possibly replacing human engineers, especially in regions heavily reliant on software engineering roles.
  • Transformation in Development Dynamics: Devin's introduction marks a significant shift in AI-assisted development, offering engineers a potent AI ally that could boost productivity and foster innovation.

What do you think about the impact of AI Engineers like Devin on industry and the workforce?

Interesting about Devin - but not surprising as so many ML Engineers that I coach tell me that they do not even code anymore and they mostly use AI Co-Pilot. Sure there will be a job displacement but are humans even ready for this type of AI? My work is now focusing on how humans can unlock "sorcery" level powers to be at the forefront of AI development, lead and not be led by AI, focus not on problems but on possibilities & potential! I truly believe we need to shift our mindsets on what's possible, focus on self-mastery now more than ever. Being able to have a bigger picture viewpoint, eagle's eye perspective & to stretch our immagination - this is where I would love to see humans developing in so as to not be "taken over" by AI.
