Digital Marketing Tips for Oct 30

Digital Marketing Tips for Oct 30

Here's some tips you can explore to grow today!

Instagram hashtags have now had the most dramatic change in history:  Hashtags are going the way of the dinosaur, and are one of thousands of social signals now that tell the algorithm what your content is about, and therefore who should see it. Prioritize putting keywords you want to be found for into each and every Instagram post. You can still use hashtags, but prioritize the keywords.

A fun way to drive engagement on social media: ask for advice.  This can be related to your business, adjacent, or just for fun (but do keep it personal). Some examples from me and my practice as a digital marketing consultant:

  1. I hear keeping up with trends on social media is tough. Anyone have advice on how to do this?
  2. Prioritizing business development feels like a time suck. Can any of you suggest how to keep on top of it?
  3. I make a mean veggie chilli, but am open minded. What's a must-have chilli ingredient I should make sure is in mine?

Social proof is KEY today in digital marketing: here's an EASY way to integrate it. Social proof is when there's evidence from other people your product or service is good. An easy way to bake it into your copy is to say "When other people [used this product] they..." If you want to make this really awesome, be specific when describing the type of person here.

Here's some Facebook and Instagram paid ad tricks:  When I run Facebook and Instagram ads, there's a few things I do every single time. I'm letting you in on the secrets! Some include

  • Targeting parameter: engaged shoppers
  • Targeting parameter: frequent travellers
  • Age: never more than 25 year age gap
  • Copy: put an emoji left flushed to disrupt scrolling behaviour
  • Carousels: do a carousel ad of images and customize the headline on every single one
  • Placement: Only choose feeds and stories

Improve your website performance with custom landing pages.  With this I want you to honour the big best practice: have no menu or other options, or anywhere else to click on the page except X to leave or towards the desired action. So say you're trying to get people to book an appointment: only have "book appointment" links on the page, with no other clickable options.

Write in time stamps on your YouTube videos.  Time stamps move the video to the part people may search for. These tend to drive up engagement and likes on videos, but when you also write them they count as additional keywords to help with your YouTube video's discoverability.

Google LOVES "freshness" on websites. What that means and how to implement:   Fresh content is anything new or updated. Simple way to do this is update your website 1-2x / month! Change a picture, update some text, or re-work a blog.

P.s. I'm making a pretty big announcement on Instagram on December 1 at 12:05pm EST. Will you join me? This is bigger than me, you, or my business here, and I'm going to get you pretty excited about it. I'll give you a hint: it's nothing like what you'll expect. So be sure to follow me on Instagram if you don't already!
