Digital therapies are gaining focus at #DGIM2024
Compared to two years ago, the relevance of digital health applications in routine care has significantly increased at #DGIM2024! Some reflections..
37% of the currently 57 listed DiGA are present at #DGIM2024
The presence of twelve DiGA manufacturers with a total of 21 #DiGA (Digtial Health Applications) at the industry exhibition compared to just two manufacturers two years ago is a strong indication of the increase in relevance DiGA have in routine care.
Vendor present in alphabetical order:
Cara Care HelloBetter Kaia Health Kalmeda Kranus Health mementor DE GmbH Nichtraucherhelden Oviva Perfood Sidekick Health Una Health Vantis
DiGA play a more significant role in the DGIM program
Digital health applications play a larger role in presentations and program items, such as in Prof. Dr. Martin Christian HIRSCH's keynote on the present and future of AI in Medicine. One of the use cases covers AI in standard care with the example of DiGA Kaia back pain by Kaia Health.
DiGA got their own session in the program
A program highlight under the topic What's new for the practice is New ways in nutrition therapy: digital applications. Three different DiGAs were presented with regard to content, impact and evidence. The questions that arose had a very strong practical relevance to the subgroups and the prescription/re-prescription process.
Starter Pitch Stage is dominated by (emerging) DiGA vendors
The Starter Pitch Stage, where established and emerging manufacturers compete against each other, also demonstrates the growing interest and relevance of this sector. The winners receive recognition with the Peter Müller Digital Prize 2024 and the associated prize money of EUR 10,000.

Deeper and more focused conversation at DIGA booth
Two years ago, only a few doctors were familiar with a digital health application (DiGA ). In the meantime, more and more doctors say that they have already prescribed DiGA or are very interested in learning more about DiGA and the prescription. The relevance centered around how the application works, fits into their patient portfolio, and what specific information they need to know when prescribing it for their patients. Compared to two years ago, the conversations with physicians were deeper and more focused now.
Summary
I am delighted that, compared to my last visit to the #DGIM2022, DiGA now have a higher priority and I am grateful for the many exciting discussions at the DGIM2024 from practice for practice. Thank you Deutsche Gesellschaft für Innere Medizin e.V. for hosting such a wonderful conference.
How did you experience this year's DGIM? What were your highlights and what is your forecast for digital therapies in the direction of #DGIM2025?

Weiter so Ronald Graefe
