Discovering the ugly truth: More data, More Danger

Discovering the ugly truth: More data, More Danger

If you were asked to stipulate how you're feeling about the increased use of mapping data within corporates, team members, and team sports. What would you answer?

If you were asked to stipulate how you’re feeling about increased use of mapping data within personal capacity like cars, surveillance, identity numbers and digital invasion. What would your answer be?

Combined with AI and advanced communications analytics, fastens the pace to ‘who’ will be the leader in this space. The best possible scenario outcome screams an increase in corporate team pace while increases risk to individuals. Depending on which hat our wearing.

Let’s take running a race or cycle challenge as an example. Apps would tells the sportsperson on the cycle what corners are coming, how wide the road is, they'll click on the map and see what the road sounds like. We’ve got this abundance of knowledge coming through REAL-TIME. This implies bobbing up information while riding like conditions for the road, obstacles like little bridges, or even small villages. On may understand the implication of using this information as an advantage for fight for first position. Perhaps a step towards evening out the plain fields between riders. No longer a battle of strength but one that includes advantageous use of timely information. Real-time data with real time insights altering or influencing our real-time experience. Wow wonder what the Olympics would look like. When does it become too much especially as we all have different processing capacity of data interruption? Let’s not challenge the youth.

Let’s take private or public surveillance as an example. Imagine driving down a road getting snapped between few cameras placed in between a few cities. This captures your number plate and alters your insurance based on drive as you go. This opens anyone up to having their car number plate tied to their identity number. Additionally, this then gets shared with ‘other databases.’ At this point as the wise driver you are, you wonder why the likes of GDPR and POPIA are not enforced to protect civilians. It’s a growing concern. It’s a growing right to understand where your information flows at any point of a lifecycle. In a recent MIT article they outlined the numerous data access points granted without civilian consent

Through having access to more data enhances one’s experience, it raises the risk level to more danger one. The one balance may lie Augmented Intelligence, which is usually brought up as intelligent automation (IA). It focuses on maximizing human capabilities. This approach keeps the irreplaceable human element up to speed and within the loop by giving feedback to actual people that then enhances their real-time decisions. The other balance lies in Metadata, which is proving to be the glue that can bind the modern data together, which is proving to be the glue that may bind the trendy data together. Data and analytics are mission-critical to navigating rapidly changing circumstances in informing decisions, seeing opportunities, and navigating change. A unified system will ensure a real-time and seamless flow of information across business functions thus aiding business to get an entire view instead of working in silos. Faster strategic decision making! Ideal state we all are running towards.

In theoretical terms, interoperability functions across four broad layers of complex systems: technological, data, human, and institutional. For many people, it's the exchange of knowledge through technological means after consideration of the interoperability. These emphasis the human and institutional aspects of interoperability are even as important.

Data may be among a companies' most valuable assets, but for too many C suites, its full potential has yet to be realised. How can companies ensure that the data they collect is being put to best use? Can data decision makers rally the internal support needed to build a data-led business strategy? And what can businesses do to assuage consumer fears over the collection of personal information? Some key questions. Trust always pops up over and over when the subject of data comes up. Do we trust who provides the data? Do we trust who manages the data? Do we trust uses the data? One thing is clear when it comes to the future of data, it lies in open transparent ecosystem where interoperability is the layer that brings it all together. Amplified over or under, on top or in-between existing micro layers intertwined within a macro ecosystem.

Data remains the block used to achieve non semantic interoperability. Simply put the greater the transparency, the higher the synchronisation and symmetry. Thus, technology becomes a true enabler. Data included. Discovering the ugly truth requires reflection - the more data, the more danger, the more power.
