The Disruption of AI & Robotic Innovation, and One Leading Contributor.
Despite the increases in awareness in recent years around drone capabilities, the drone market has been in its infancy, but became somewhat more prevalent after 2016 when the Federal Aviation Administration began granting exemptions for drones to operate in the US. Since then, drones have been gaining adoption in a variety of commercial industries from construction to agriculture.
The drone services market is expected to grow to 63 billion by 2025, and with the rise of AI and advanced cloud computing capabilities, it is not hard to see how drone usage will likely move from an experimental early technology to an everyday standard usage for a variety of applications.
In many regards commercial drone capabilities are revolutionizing the way assets are monitored and inspected, through the evolution of safety, enhancement of efficiency, and reduction of manpower needed to complete tasks that were previously tedious in nature.
I recently had the pleasure to sit down with a key representative from one such tech company at the forefront of innovation in the drone industry; Percepto to learn about the company's capabilities, and I was impressed around some of the advancement in capabilities that have transpired in the industry. I was able to speak with one Mr. Philip Rogers , who oversees the companies accounts, which range from a variety of commercial clients, from telecommunications customers such as Verizon, to energy companies at the forefront of the energy transition like Enel.
Percepto was able to acquire a unique and groundbreaking waiver for their industrial drone in a box solution, which completely eliminates the need for line of sight, and allows for an artificial intelligence based system, which… if not impressive enough in itself, comes with advanced Israeli developed data mining and software applications which are able to collect, organize, and analyze the data that these drones collect. Data that can range from thermal imaging to volumetric evaluations, and everything in between. I encourage you to check them out, as the technology looks incredibly promising.

Along with blockchain technologies, which I have a keen personal interest in, the rise of AI and robotic tools will also be incredibly disruptive over the next decade to a variety of industries, from oil and gas applications such as site monitoring and visual inspections, to automated security operations and coastal Shipping patrols. And the fact that we are moving towards automation becomes a game changer for these emerging technologies.
Is your company staying ahead of the latest technological developments? In what ways is your organization leveraging robotics, advanced cloud computing and AI? As these questions will become more and more relevant each year.
We are now at a point in history where we once again are on the precipice of extremely disruptive technologies, that will radically shift and shape our way of working. I believe the level of disruption of these technologies is similar to the significance of e-mail disrupting fax communications and how the invention of the automobile disrupted transportation.
It's time to ask these questions.
Is your company or industry addressing difficult problems with new and effective solutions? How do you see these technologies affecting or benefiting what you do?
