The Disruptive Forces of Change Must Be Harnessed With A Strong Moral Compass
Moral leadership combined with positive disruption holds immense potential to reshape the future and advance the well-being of individuals and communities. Moral leaders in healthcare understand the profound impact their decisions and actions have on people's lives. They prioritize compassion, empathy, and ethical considerations in their approach. As moral leaders navigate the complex challenges, they recognize that healthcare is about treating illnesses while also maintaining the dignity and humanity of every individual – patients, clinicians, and care teams. By fostering a culture of integrity, trust, and accountability, moral leadership inspires healthcare professionals to strive for excellence, embrace innovation, and continuously improve patient outcomes. Such leadership drives systemic change, promotes collaboration, and encourages the development of sustainable healthcare models that prioritize human well-being over profits.
To truly bring about transformative change, we must think outside the box and be willing to take calculated risks that challenge the existing healthcare structure. Positive disruption encourages us to question outdated norms and explore innovative solutions that address systemic inequities and inefficiencies. This disruption promotes collaboration among diverse stakeholders, encourages interdisciplinary cooperation, and breaks down silos that hinder progress. By infusing moral leadership with positive disruption, we can catalyze a paradigm shift in healthcare that champions compassion, inclusivity, and sustainable change. Ultimately, the future of healthcare lies in the hands of those committed to moral leadership, who recognize that a truly transformative and compassionate healthcare system can heal not just bodies but also the social fabric of our communities.

She emphasizes the need to address issues indicated by turnover and encourages proactive decision-making. Calling for action rather than avoidance.
Thank you, Dean Browell , for sharing HLTH USA 's post that shows the importance of considering tools and workflows that benefit both health consumers and the healthcare workforce, as the workforce often faces challenges when there is a conflict between patients and the health system.

In response to the Let's Make a Ruckus newsletter posted earlier this month, Dike Drummond MD emphasized that
ANY initiative that directly minimizes ANY significant stress on the docs and staff results in an immediate and sustained improvement in Patient Experience.
YES! We don't need another PX tactic/initiative; PX will improve when we improve EX.
Arianna Huffington shared from Tiffani Bova 's new book The Experience Mindset, echoing the sentiment in Dikes's comment above. Though I would argue that PX is different from CX in many ways, there are alignments in some aspects. The foundation of the employee experience is one.
And Jason Dupuis continued the theme with his post.
An element of EX is social connection. I appreciated what David Spinks shared with this visual.
Part of exceptional EX is what the employee does to care for themselves. Diana Londoño, MD shares the value of rest, stillness, and quiet.

Greta Rosler role modeled stepping away from the daily grind and connecting with what matters most.
Finally, the message in Jess Stuart 's short video is valuable. Click the image of her post to hear her message.

Jonathan Fisher, MD, FACC posts often, sharing an example of his messages. Rachelle Cano 's comment was a beautiful addition to the message Jonathan shared.
I'm currently taking a course from Acumen Academy on Moral Leadership. Katie Quinney brought this to my attention and formed a small group to connect as we move through the modules. Because this course is truly fantastic and moral leadership is now very much in my thoughts, this post from Ann M. Richardson, MBA - sharing Deborah Morris 's post - caught my eye. I appreciate the comments from others, such as .Jose M Maria FNP-BC, RN , and David Reed .
We need moral leadership in healthcare to prevent the continuation of moral injury in the workforce.
Richard Schwartz, MA always has valuable insights to share. In this conversation with Mark Bard , he shares some of these insights with us. Such as what is keeping the pace of change in healthcare slow:
The gravitational pull of the way we have always done things and the fear of being wrong.

And, as we work to change - to risk trying something new - we will make mistakes. I appreciated Kimberly Dornisch sharing Said Taiym 's post. We will not get this right initially; it will be messy. We need patience, persistence, and unity. It wouldn't hurt to toss some humor in the mix.
Mike Harbour - I loved your message.
It is time leaders stand up strong and start leading with passion and courage and heart.
To lead with passion, courage, and heart, we also need to manage what's on our plate to focus on the right priorities. Quint Studer offers sage advice to help us do so.

Ah, Cody Hand - love your thought on doing the CEO role differently!
Part of prioritizing the right things is reducing what we measure and measuring what matters. Tom Dahlborg offered this post along that topic. Jessica Taylor 's comment contributed to the conversation.
And Roseanna Galindo, CCBA, CAVS 📊 offered insights about creating a data culture with her comment to and share of Brent Dykes 's post.

Lonnie Hirsch , though I know this is true as I have lived the lack of funding for PX efforts, your post still caught me off guard. To have it said outright removed the last layer of rose color I was trying to look through. Your simple post caught the attention of many, such as Sally Mildren and Jonathan Goldfinger .
Thank you for this image, Sonia Nosheen (aka Sonia Sparkles) - the value of clinicians and patients as partners in care.
Appreciate the interviews you do Jessica DaMassa with WTF Health (What's The Future?). The message from Meg Aranow, MPH regarding the inclusion of technology in healthcare in this interview was very good.
The challenge in healthcare always has been and continues to be how do I take the most innovative technology and make sure that my patients still feel a personalized soft touch.

Meg's comment above pairs well with Angelo Venditti 's post here. Technology offers value, and yet cannot fully replace the need for the human element in compassionate, connected care.
Irith Lebovich, MD , as I read your post with the contribution of the two post above on my mind, I thought of how the technology we have implemented unfortunately often causes the issues you identify. And yet, as you identify, we cannot completely blame the technology. The change we need is not system or human, it is both. Appreciated your contributory comment Maram Dalab, CPXP, IUHPE RHPP .
Have you seen Liz Fosslien 's work yet? Her simple images make powerful messages.

1yWow Denise Wiseman! Another stellar round up. I can't believe the amount of information you pack into this newsletter. I have followed so many additional like-mind experienced champions and have read some outstanding work. And a huge thank you for including me in your shout out for Leading Voices in Healthcare Expo 2023.
