Instead, I invite you to take it a step further and rally your team around a shared performance challenge—one that can only be solved by working collectively.

Here's why it works:

➡️ A clear challenge unites your team and gives them a reason to collaborate and leverage each other's strengths.

➡️ Working towards a meaningful goal is inherently motivating. People are more invested when they see the tangible impact of their efforts.

➡️Challenges push people outside their comfort zones, fostering innovation and problem-solving skills.

2️⃣ Then Ensure Clarity & Alignment: The Foundation for Success

Even the most motivated team can struggle if they're not on the same page. 

We often assume we're on the same page after a discussion, but discussion doesn't guarantee understanding.

Our backgrounds and experiences shape how we interpret information. What you take away from a message can be very different for someone else. 

Clarity isn't enough either. Even with a common goal, different teams or individuals might have conflicting approaches or priorities. This creates friction and hinders true alignment.

The result? A team working hard but in slightly different directions, which leads to wasted effort, missed collaboration, and ultimately, a team that falls short of its potential.

So, how can you put this into practice?

➡️Uncover Performance Challenges: Agree on a performance challenge that's meaningful and requires collective effort.

➡️Open Communication: Schedule dedicated time for open discussions and Q&A after key meetings to ensure everyone's on the same page.

➡️ Regular Check-Ins: Maintain alignment through regular check-ins, sharing thinking and progress to course-correct if needed.

By combining these strategies, you can start creating a high-performing team that's motivated, collaborative, and innovative.
