Do this to land your next promotion

Do this to land your next promotion

Hey LinkedIn Fam!

You want that level-up role, right?

The one with that damn fine title.

That includes more money.

More opportunities.

And you know you are ready for it.

Well, then I will tell you the secret to landing your next promotion.

You have to be clear about your contribution at work. How you have kicked ass in your current role, what you've achieved for your projects, team, and department, and how that affects your company's goals, targets, and revenue.

And the #1 thing we don't do well is document these key accomplishments. So when it's time to ask for that promotion, you might be a bit scared, unsure, and unable to discuss why you deserve the new role.

So here is what I need you to start doing ASAP.

Keep an I'M THE SHIT journal.

Yep, I said it. I want you to have a work journal that outlines all of your significant accomplishments so you are connecting to your greatness regularly. And you are ready for any level-up chat.

Schedule 15-20 minutes in your calendar at the end of every week or month to document your wins, key accomplishments, and even what others have said about your work.

Keeping an I'M THE SHIT journal will get you what you want and have you prepared to navigate the conversation confidently.

So start one now, and I bet you'll be like "DAMN…they need to give me more money and a better title" in just a few short weeks. And you'll now be armed with the information you need to claim it.

Did you know that I launched a group career AND money coaching program designed to help women of color make their next career move, land a pay raise, and learn the foundational steps to building wealth?

Yep. I decided to partner with one of the best money coaches in the game to teach you how to build your career path, get more money, and then once you have that disposable income, you will know exactly how to invest it to start your new financial legacy.

The program is called In The BAG and is now open to enrollment! But only to the amazing ladies on the waitlist.

Don't worry, though. The program will open to everyone (that's you) on September 16th to fill any remaining slots. Keep a look out for my posts and newsletters for details on how to snatch up your spot.

I do this! I keep an accomplishment list on my desk that I can look at every day. When I'm feeling down about myself, I read it then as well. It's so much easier to track along the way, then to have to think back on the last months, or year.

Couple things I been tracking for a while for each position. 1. Bullet list of accomplishments (customer/client focused) and 2. Training/education/experience. This will lead to updating the resume (monthly/quarterly) on job sites as well as notes for talking points in annual performance review/job interview.

Great tips Jasmine! I keep a daily log of things I did that day and then at the end of each month, I summarize the information and highlight my accomplishments! It makes the conversation for promotions, performance reviews, or even updating my resume much easier!
